The car was running fine until two months later when the distributer needed replacing. This should have been done under the warranty, but I was messed around by the dealers. Recently I had the clutch changed at 96000 miles which is really good considering that I drive the car pretty quick most of the time.
I am really impressed by the cars performance. It beats most of the modern day hot hatches and sport saloons, including the 1.6 civic vti.
The economy of the car is great. You get blistering performance and great mileage, all from a 1.5 sohc vti engine.
Performance spec:
0-60: 7.2 seconds
0-100: 19.7 seconds
Top speed: 129 mph (ltd)
Standard modifications.
How can a 1.5 sohc beat a twin cam 1.6 vti (158bhp?)
Obviously dreaming.
It won't beat the DOHC, but they aren't left that far behind since they are a fair bit lighter than the DOHC VTi.

I agree with you, there's no way a SOHC VTEC 1.5 can beat a 1.6 VTi DOHC, not a standard one anyway.
7.2 seconds to 0-60, you're way off, a standard 1.6 (1992-1995) VTi model running 158bhp clocks 60 at 7.3 to 7.5 secs. I own a VTi, and mine has been dyno tested at 175 bhp, and is just under 7 seconds, which for a 1.6 is very impressive.
