The previous Vectra (1996 - 1.6 16V also) had quite a lot of problems.
GR Valve; rear suspension with wrong alignment; the engine never had the performance that should have, possibly the fuel injection bomb that never worked properly; the water bomb (I guess it's how it is called in english).
Because I'm a fan of Opel, I bought another Vectra...
The Vectra that I own now it's just fabulous, superb handling and very fast engine (even though it's an 1.6).
It should have 100hp, but in the review machine it achieves 115hp...I love the car...
It's a very beautiful car, I really love it.
If any of you who read this have any photos of YOUR Vectra, please send to hugo_b@net.sapo.pt.
Thank you...
Have you ever looked at cars other than the Vectra? The Rover 600 is a much better looking car, the Audi A6 is too and current S-Class Merc is much better looking than a Vectra.
OK. The Mercedes-Benz S-class and the Audi A6 are really better looking than a Vectra.
But the Rover 600??? Well taste is taste...
Recently Audis are ugly cars. But how can you compare Vectra with Mercedes?
Why don't compare with a F15 or B1?
Personally I do not like the latest Vectra. The shark body of the prevoius one was much better.
But taste is taste.
Hi, know from the site that you are a opel fan. I also own an Opel 1.8 Vectra Auto. Recently I start to have this problem.
Move off from first gear and I can feel the car jerk (Not too serious, but never happen before) and the engine noise is pretty loud.
Is this something to do with the tension belt or the mounting.
Please advise. Many thanks!
The belt must be replaced every 60.000 km... its opel, but engine is loud, and it's an effect not a defect.
And also I hate opel`s "extra`s package", I have year 2000 vectra with xenon lights, but no CD player, no weather control, no cruise control, other previous Vectras has these extras : (
The Opel Vectra is a bland, nondescript forgettable car.
The old Vectra A, already looked old when it was first introduced in 1988. The Sedan was too conservative and the dumpy shaped Hatchback version was particularly ugly.
The Vectra B that followed afterwards in 1995, was nothing to write about either. The Hatchback looked ugly, the Caravan was just plain dreary. Only the Sedan version looked decent. But still was no svelte beauty to behold. Specially when compared to the Volkswagen Passat B4/B5.
With the Vectra C in 2002, the Sedan version became a monstrosity, the Hatchback became dull and oddly enough only the Caravan version looks decent enough. But again, Opel could not be bothered about a staggeringly beautiful car, and the 2005 face-lift did not do any wonder.
Opel Vectra. Most beautiful car ever made??? Most definitely NOT!
I am a new owner of a 2000 Opel Vectra B, automatic 1.6l. It is used so I expected to have some things to replace, but soon after I got the the car I had to replace the power steering pump since it had started leaking. I had to wait a month to get the pump since I live in the Caribbean and parts are hard to source for any European car. Now that I finally got the pump I took the car to the mechanic to get the new pump installed and the ABS light came on. My question is; will the fact that the car was not used for a few weeks have a negative effect on the sensors and other parts, and was it a smart by for my first car?
