Nothing.
OK, I've read a lot of misleading articles on the 2003 Tiburon from people that were either unlucky or had no clue on how to operate their vehicle.
This is a great car. I've owned a Jetta, 2 Integra's and a Peugeot 205. This is by far the best car I've owned.
It's very reliable and predictable to drive. It handles great, has a powerful engine and is very comfortable. The driving feel is amazing and the steering like butter.
It comes with everything for free. A warranty that no one can touch, a 360 Watt infinity system, 17inch wheels and Michelins sport tires (retails at $240 a piece), floor mats, cargo net, sunroof, air conditionning, air bags, leather seats and the pleasure to blow the pants off $40,000 "sport" vehicles.
Also, this is a very smart car. You have a keyless entry, but can't lock yourself out. Your headlights and cabin lights turn off automatically not when you take the key out of the ignition, but when you do that and open the driver door (meaning that you're ready to leave the vehicle and the lights can be turned off). You can open the trunk, gas tank and pop the hood all from a convenient location. The driver controls are convenient and practical.
OK, another thing. I live in New York City and have owned my tib for 8 months now. I promise you that there is not one day where somebody, whether in traffic or walking by, askes me what kind of car I'm driving and how beautiful it is. Sometimes, I get asked 4-5 times a day and it gets so annoying, I have to ignore people and turn up the music.
So please, before you listen to immature and clueless drivers that bash this great car because they were unfortunate or... (you know what I'm thinking), go try it yourself and enjoy the savings, fun and numerous comments.
If you were thinking of getting one, but are hesitant because of mixed reviews. Buy it. Don't hesitate. I was in the same shoes and I have no regrets at all.
My wife loves the car also. Too much actually, she always wants to go for a drive.
Peace.
I totally agree. Most $40,000 "sports" cars as well as many tuned import coupes can't even come close to me off the line with my gt v6 six speed manual tib. it's a great car and the amount of money I saved over purchasing something else (perhaps an RSX type-s or an eclipse gts) was incredible. did I mention those cars can't even come close to my car in terms of performance? (i test drove them both) if you want an amazing machine at an unbelievable price, go with the tiburon.
Glad to see other people have experienced the Tibby. He is 100 % right!! Believe me I own one too.

This list could go on for days...
Anyways, the point is, don't make up crap about your cars, and don't put down other cars until you've done your research.
I drive a 95 Trans Am which does a nice 0-60 in about 5.4s. It cost me 17K.

Hey Firebird,
Very good at quoting numbers, but you know what? That doesn't mean squat. Why don't you go drive those cars and forget the numbers, see how they feel, handle and communicate with the driver.
A Trans-Am? I take it you live in a trailer park and wear a wife beater. Cheers.
Dear Mr. Trans Am,
Who cares that you live in a 5000 sq. foot house? Who cares that you pay 10 bucks a day for gas?
What we are talking about is the connection between car and driver. It seems all that concerns you is how fast you can go in a straight line. Just remember that it was a STOCK V6 Tib that bested a Corvette Z06 in a Road and Track closed course test.
Nice car! FAST!!! I just got my tibby and love the looks I get from other people as I roll up to the red light and roar off when the light turns green. I have only two issues that maybe someone here can assist me with. first, any recommendations on winter diving with the gt v6 manual? second, anybody else experienced misalignment of a door which does need fully seal when closed. mine leaks if I don't push in on the window after closing the door. I have an appt on Monday and will get back with you about their service. so far they have been very good to me. by the way MR TRANS AM, I drove a dodge for three years and it was the worst vehicle I have ever been in as far as reliability is concerned. my sisters neon had a cylinder head gasket go at 38,000 miles and dodge would not help. who cares about your house and your property. if you can afford those expensive cars more power to you, but for me, the tibby is really a worthy car and one not too pull up next to at the red light and misjudge as "only a Hyundai"
If I recall it was a rally version of the tiburon that beat the corvette and produced 240 hp and weighed 550 lbs less than the production tiburon. By the way, my friend has a gt v6 tiburon and I beat him in a 2000 infiniti i30.
It's funny how all of the comments about these cars always end in disputes about which car is "faster" or "quicker" or "louder" or "prettier"... I think the main point of the initial comment was how nice the car is and how much they enjoy the car.
Y'all that we're making the comments about how a domestic can kill a import, or vice versa or what import can crush another import...well...with enough money I can make a f'in Yugo CRUSH ALL OF YOUR CARZ!!! Chances are that there will always be someone out there that is better than you... so it doesn't matter.
Take it for what it's worth and stop comparing ur peni... err I mean cars and just drive and drive it fast and hard or do something else, like go boar hunting with just a buck knife and really feel like a man. =P.
Let me get this right... someone actually compared the Hyundai Tiburon to the neon? A dodge srt 4? Who would ever want to be seen in a neon? When I think neon, I think of Geo or escort... economical, but not something to be proud of owning. Yes, the specs may be nice on the dodge srt4, but only if you like driving a stick, there's no automatic option. By the way, be sure to let me know when an American car maker will offer a standard 10 year 100,000 mile warranty at no extra cost. For value, power, comfort, and overall style, this car was an excellent purchase. If I had a dime for every time someone asked what kind of car this was or where I got it, it would've paid for itself.
To the last commenter, If you buy a sporty car and desire an automatic, you are one hell of a panzy, seriously in a tiburon or srt-4 why would you want an automatic, grow some balls and learn how to drive a stick.
You guys keep talking about lots of performance for a low price, when in fact what you would want if you had no money and want to go fast is a used car. my friend got an 88 rx7 for 3500 dollars that had already been juiced up. he got a dyno tune up and after that wound up with 457 horses. he can smoke most anybody in my city (eugene oregon). so if you buy a brand new car for the pure purpose of going fast, then you didn't get the best deal. my personal view is just get a lame car and a fast bike 4 G's will get you a 2000 CBR 600 that could waste most cars.
OK, well I agree that bickering over car's is stupid. Personally, I think the Tiburon is a pretty nice car for the money. That being said, that SRT-4 may be based on a Neon, but it's not something you want to mess with. I would definitely not be embarassed to be seen driving one. I'm considering buying one of those two at the moment. They are about the same price, but the SRT-4 obviously has much more performance per dollar. Although, I would assume there are a lot of people who would rather have the overall nicer car (Tiburon) over the faster one (SRT-4). The only thing holding me back is that it's a Dodge (and the rear windows being manual). Also, I think I'd rather have the 2 door fastback over a 4 door. For you guys who believe in buying a cheap used car and modifying it, that's fine too, but again, most want a newer, more reliable car, and most people don't know crap about modifications that extreme and don't want them. That RSX Type S is severly overpriced and relies on high revs for power. Some like that, most don't. Saying that the Tib can whip the pants off a 40,000 sports car is far fetched. I can't think of one example where that would be true, but the guy was excited about having his new car, let him be. Overall, there is no denying that the Tiburon is a fabulous sport compact for the money. So, that all being said I'm going to break my trend of being impartial and say: TRANS AMs ARE REDNECK JUNK! HAHAHAHA!
As an avid car lover (I've rebuilt custom chevys for years), I find myself surprised to realize that I actually LIKE the Tiburon GT. It does use amazing value combined with fashionable styling and wonderful performance, not to mention an unbeatable warranty! This being said, I just bought a new 04' SVT Focus and must say it too is a blast to drive. Neon SRT4's the same way. If your looking for bang for the buck throw away cars (excuse the expression) these are all great and will suit different peoples needs just dandy, but if you want to go "fast" do your homework and realize that some hick-in-the-sticks guy in a primer'd 66 Chevy II Nova spent 1500 bucks and dropped a big-block (454 preferably =) ) in it and will smoke your @$$. Embarrassing, yes. So drop the rice war sissy crap and just enjoy your new ride.
First of all I just wanna say that I got my GT V6 Tuscani three months ago and the car is tremendous. From handling to acceleration to performance, the car is a real monster in the street. I love it and have no regrets. The Hyundai surprised a lot of ppl in 03. Holla.
I just looked up this car on the net because I saw one the other day for the first time.
Anywhere you can still buy a new one? Do they come as convertibles? How much do they cost?
