1986 Holden Commodore VL from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"The VL-Ski, goes and gets the girls, no dramas"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Engine died while driving, wires from crank angle sensor replaced, $150.

Brakes make noise, but work quite well, no action taken as yet.

Carpet in the back near door coming out.

Small rust spots, though that can be expected.

De-mister doesn't work. Power button comes on and off at times.

When the vehicle is in drive early in the morning (when it's cold) if you stop for any reason then try and take off again (at any speed) the transmission will not engage and car will rev. Then the gear will catch and it'll squeal off. This is bad because a bike copper lives at the end of my street.

Question of the condition of heads, but the current verdict is O.K.

Transmission can't decide what gear is needed when going up very slight inclines.

General comments?

Starts cold every time, threatens to stop, but never does, unless the engine bay is wet.

I love it's turn of pace coming out of corners.

Has chrome pursuit rims and a dark tint, the thing looks tough.

21/4 exhaust and extractors.

I can't decide whether I love this car or I hate it, theres definitely something about it (it must be a holden thing)

I'm not a holden freak I actually like fords better, I took the 3L VL against the 4L XF. But this Holden is good.

Gets the girls.
