"LEMON!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The bracket on my water pump broke at 13,000 miles.

My tires had to be replaced at 20,000 miles. The brakes were replaced at the same time.

My rotors went bad at 27,000 miles. This caused my car to vibrate when braking.

My timing belt broke at 32,000 miles. The car was in the shop for four weeks.

Now, at 33,000 miles, my rotors are bad again.

General comments?

This is a good car, when it's not in the shop. However, it's never out of the shop.

The car also dents very easily. I had a friend lean "slightly" on it while pumping gas, and it dented.

The dealership is very slow and unconcerned when working on my car. It takes them forever to get parts, and then they take their time putting them in.

First of all it is impossible to get a 4.0 Auto Nubira

HALLO!!!

Secondly you have been very unlucky

as have a lot of people on your side of the pond

during Daewoo's fight for survival which is now complete

not all daewoo's are like this you have just been very unlucky.

My 2001 Daewoo Nubira has been a perfect car. It just turned 36K miles, and I have had it in 1 time, for the brake-line recall. If you really had as many problems as you stated, you clearly have not taken care of the car. Like most cars, if you take care of them, don't hot-rod them (it's a 4-banger!), regularly check and change things as needed, they will last a long time. I have to agree with the thin-metal though, I leaned on mine lightly the first week I had it and dented the fender. Mechanically and otherwise, the car has been great, and gets better mileage than my dads 99 toyota carolla. I would buy another when this one wears out... if they sold them.

I agree with the last review. My 2001 Nubira is a wonderful car. I have not had any problems with it at all. It is very good on gas and has a smooth ride. I recently drove my mother's VW Passat and the ride was very rough. Maybe these other owners did not take good care of their Daewoo's as they should have. Also, there are three auto dealerships that service Daewoos in my area and all are fast, have good service, and all honor my original Daewoo warranty. My point is, take care of your things and they will last a long time!

I have a 2001 Daewoo Nubira and it's been holding up pretty well. I haven't had the problems that you all have had until now. My car currently has just over 38,000mi on it and was leaking coolant in the past week. I have been told by the numerous mechanics at my house that it's the water pump. So other than that, it's an OK car. The interior is a drag with my "chrome" door handles cracking and my passenger side visor is peeling. The car does dent quite easily as stated earlier. My tires wore around 33/35k. Otherwise, regularly cleaning the exterior and interior and maintaining my own engine by constant cleaning and tuning, it's been a real sweetheart. I change my own oil every 3k or so, clean my own rotors, changed my own brake pads, etc. Basic maintenance by the owner helps this car go a long way---and I'm a 21 year old girl.

Hello to all. I apologize before hand if you are soft hearted about the Daewoo Nubira CDX 2001. However, for those of you all that want the truth I beg you to continue to read my comment. This is the story of my "Dream Car."

I was 16 when I first read about the Daewoo Nubira. I just had to have one. To comply with my request or "begging" my father and mother bought me a brand new, fresh off the lot, recently waxed, no miles Daewoo Nubira 2001. My life has never been the same since... Everything was great until two of my tires popped off around 20,000 miles. This happened probably around the same time that the company went out of business or whatever, and I found out that the free towing club that my father signed me up for no longer existed. While skidding or "sparking" down the street (which every you may call it,) I thought to myself "Why me?" I thought I was alone until I found a group of unsuspecting Daewoo owners in my town that also suffered from the same auto "diseases." Later, my car failed to stop behind numerous vehicles including my mothers very "nice" car I applied the emergency break, and it eventually stopped. After that episode of fun my car's radio would turn on by itself at volumes that I didn't believe ever existed. TO add to the terror my door switches lock and unlock on their own. I have had to replace the battery and tires in the car every six months. Also, my break light is no longer works, the seat belts unbuckle and fly up whenever they see fit, the blinkers flash inside the car very fast to indicate they are out, but they are not, and the paint peels on the hood because guess what? There is no primer on the hood of the car. I can say this much though, I am very appreciative toward Daewoo because I do not have to worry about my friends trying to ride in the car with me. My brothers car was recently put into the shop and he had to drive my beauty. He quickly paid for his repairs and handed my keys back over. Also I would like to mention no one in my household parks in front or behind my car in case it needs to be towed by a wrecker. Also, Daewoo has also allowed me to met my boyfriend who is a wrecker driver! (I guess after he had to tow my car so many times we figured hey why not!) Anyways to make a very long and greuling story come to an end it is now 2004 and payments are still being made because I chose the model that was fully loaded! I cannot wait until this car is finally paid off so that I can get something shall we say a little different! I also would like to thank Daewoo for allowing me the opportunity to become very knowledgeable about Lemon Laws and keeping detailed records. P.S. This testimony is not written to deter future buyers of Daewoo's. I guess me and my Daewoo "fan club" of 20 are just unlucky people.

Are the people who stick up for these cars old people who never go above 3000rpm.

I have been driving company cars for 15 years and have never had more than a couple of insignificant problems, then along came the Daewoo, I'm not going to go into detail because i'll expire the warranty on my computer for over use.

Suffice to say I had a cambelt snap at 56,000 miles, a second one snap 4 days after getting it back (because they didn't change the tensioner) and a 3 month wait for it after that. 3 New front suspensions, 2 alternators, 1 starter motor, 3 catalysts, 2 rear silencers, rust on the front of the bonnet, new rear shocks. The list could go on and on.

This car really is a pile of poo and anyone who disagrees is wrong and I'm right!!!

I owned a 2001 Daewoo Nubira, and lets just say I have never in my life had such a crappy car. I had trouble with the brakes, and the car kept shutting off. I tried to trade the car, but no dealership would even look at it. I was so depress, because auto repair shops would tell me that they were not able to find parts for the car. So I finally gave up, and turn the car in. If anyone is thinking about purchasing a Daewoo, I will advise you not to do so, or you will regret it.

I own a 2001 Daewoo Nubira and with out at doubt everything that you have listed that has gone wrong on your daewoo has or is going wrong with mine as well. This is the most poorly made car I've ever had.

Well, I must say that everyone has had some problems with their little Daewoo. I myself have been very fortunate. I drive 50 miles to/from work every day. Have a 2001 Nubira se with 63k and only two concerns. Tires worn too quickly and rear dr side window regulator inop. Gonna change my timing belt soon (I'm a ford mechanic), car has been great other than that! 35 mph hwy. change oil every 3000 miles. Best 5k I ever spent. (Bought it NEW when they went out of business, 15 miles on car)

I have a 2001 Nubira, bought it with 12,000 miles on it. Now has 42,000 and I have had no problems with it. My only disappointment has been I can't get more than 22 miles to the gallon on the highway.

I have owned a 2000 Daewoo Nubira for 14 months and overall I am happy with it. It has done 41000 miles and has just had to have four new tyres and new brake pads all round. The body work is in very good condition without a scratch. It is a bit thirsty on the fuel if you thrash it. Somebody decided to dance on my bonnet at new year which dented too easily I will agree with that, but then again bonnets are not designed to be danced on. I think for the money you pay, you get a reasonable car, that if you look after and service regular, will last a long time.

I presently own ("am paying for") a 2001 Daewoo Nubira. I have had nothing but problems with this car. The car is made extremely cheap. My husband and I bought it off of the lot in 2002 under warranty. The dealer made it sound like a steal at $9,000.00 with only 500 miles on it. At first I loved the car - it handled nicely and had great highway gas mileage.

After about one month the mirror in the drivers side visor spontaneously combusted (I'm not THAT ugly). Soon after that the car began to wobble so we had the tires checked. Apparently the lug nuts were not on tight enough.

We have had to replace the A/C temp control switches TWICE now because the buttons and knobs quit working.

The power windows (the 3 that actually work) make a horrible noise when going down, so we avoid it because we are afraid they won't go back up. The other window was somehow not covered under the warranty, hmmm.

The car has dented in several places, we barely leaned on it. The wheel covers on the front 2 tires popped off and will not go back on because the plastic tabs that held them on broke off. In fact, just about everything in and on, this car is made of thin cheap plastic. I will never own another Daewoo...EVER!!!

By the way - anyone who says it is my fault for buying it after the company went bankrupt or because I don't take care of the car is completely wrong. I was convinced (suckered) by the dealership (of liars) who said it was a good reliable car, and if it had problems they would be able to take care of it. I have done my part trying to keep that car in the best condition as humanly possible. I can't help the fact that it is a piece of crap. I will, however, take full responsibility for believing the flipping dealership (who just wanted to get the car off the lot before it fell apart...literally).

I purchased my brand new car at age 22 and was so proud of my new baby. My nubira ran great and I took so good care of it. After about 14 moths my brakes went metal to metal. That was not a good feeling that I had to fix it so soon, though not major problem now. I had to replace my front tires at about 30,000 miles which is not too bad. I then bought 4 good brand name one's, after 16,000 miles I need to replace the front 2 tires as there is barley any tread.

Unfortunatley know after the car ran really good, I turn on the car to go to work and the car sounded if a fork or rocks where in my engine. Turns out my timing chain slipped at idle and did so much damage (at present 10/8/06) I am waiting the result of $1400.00 of work with no guaranty if will be fine : (

I WILL LEAVE MY EMAIL FOR ANY HELP OR JUST SIMILAR CASES...
