The car stalls. I've learned to use the brake and gas together. There is rattling from the under body. The wiper motor needs replacing. Only 1 wiper works (only on sunny days) The hood latch is broke, however it opens with pliers. Also some type of rubbing or wobbling of some sort from the front passenger tire.
I bought this car in November of 2002 for $300.00. It was a beater and my only hopes were that it would last me through the winter until I could afford something else. By the way~the heater works great. I have driven this car everywhere and it has not let me down. Now I have purchase another car, but I can't let this little spirit go. It just keeps going and going.
I forgot to mention that there is something weirded out with the electrical on this car when you use the headlights. The panel lights won't light up and the hazards (I hope it's just on the inside) stay on, but don't blink. If I hit the right pothole, all better!
Hate to say it, but with the Hazard lights thing, it's not just on the inside. My Plymouth Acclaim does the same thing and if you need to use the hazards you must pull the switch out and push it in manually to make them blink- very annoying.
In my not so humble opinion, the stalling is probably some sensor or other or the wires going to it. Likely the oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold? Check to see that the ground wire to the head or block at the car's left end is not broken (2.5L).
Your Spirit must have taken a beating. My '90 Spirit (2.5) has 132k miles on it. Blew a head gasket about 2K ago. All now is fine with this car. It is tough convincing my wife to replace it.
