1984 Chevrolet Caprice Classic from North America - Comments

"A great bargain for those that seek quality and longevity over high performance"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When first purchased I had to replace the timing chain and have the wires uncrossed.

It ran beautifully, but backfired constantly and would not move faster than 25 MPH.

Replaced AM/FM radio with AM/FM Cassette Player.

I repaired the AC in the summer of 2002 and it still works fine.

Will eventually need a carburetor.

Vehicle sat for a few years before I purchased it so the radiator will need replacing eventually.

Replaced rear halogen light with Fluorescent light because the headliner began to fall.

Since the car had been sitting for a while, it will need to have the carbon removed to get rid of the developing spark knock and to regain the significant loss in power.

General comments?

This wagon is extremely comfortable.

It is in great shape for its age.

The only thing that doesn't work is the cruise.

The wagon runs and drives great.

I am willing to have the carbon removed in order to keep the vehicle for several additional years.

This wagon will still make long distance trips without complaining.

Some minor repairs will ensure that this vehicle will continue to run well into its classic stage.

I had a 305 v8 with a lot of carbon building up in the motor so I put some treatment in the gas tank and it stopped knocking and it's power increased.

Good luck:)
