"This car is seriously quick"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The only thing this went wrong was the tranmission went out and a broken motor mount that's really about all.

General comments?

This car is seriously quick for a 2.2 liter engine very fast car had my car up to 145mhp and it handles very good great gas mileage 35 to 45 miles.

A non turbo, stock ford probe? 145 mph? I don't think so.

If you don't think so, you don't have one. It is a very impressive car, mine will never be for sale.

145 MPH? I think it would be more along the lines of 145 KMH. I have an 89 Ford Probe LX and the fastest I ever took it was 112 and it wouldn't go any faster. I've been told that there is a speed limit on the engine at 113-114 and that the engine revs down to 3 grand and the gas is cut from the engine until the speed goes down.

It's because:

1 It's not a turbo model

2 Speed limiter- fuel relay's cut pulse signal at 118 non turbo 130? turbo model.

First gen probes are the fastest model's of the probes (mazda mx6 also) and I've seen in the ranges from 300-400+hp (no joke)

Hey, to settle the argument it come down to wether you have a 6 pin MAF or a 2, 6 pin allows the amount of air to feul ratio better and can provide better reaction to throtle demands. I also own an 89 Lx wo/T and top speed of 210 km. That is when I bought it. Now with a K&N 3inch filter and mod chip, performance plugs and distributor, and wires, and egr cut off I have hit 258Km. I can put it in first and burn my tires tell they pop.

Not bad for a 2.2 non- turbo. almost out raced a 73 charger.

Well, I can't say is that the probe does or does not have phantom fuel limiters. What I can say is that I was traveling with friend's on a long empty stretch of I-80 between Salt Lake City and Wendover, Nevada, and my 1989 Ford LX (non turbo) was right alongside his car when his speedometer was pegged at 120. I won't say I had a lot left, but I only backed off because I didn't feel safe as the road, my tires, and the wind were not the best for those speeds.

OK, For your information, it is IMPOSSIBLE for the stock Probe LX to go that fast. IMPOSSIBLE! That's it, bottom line, wait wait, theres one explanation, your speedo could be a lot ahead. But seriously now.

1) Theres a speed limiter on both the Probe GL and LX at 113 MPH. Once it reaches these speeds, it will shuy off the fuel pump until you reach 75 MPH, then it will kick back in.

2) EVEN the turbo GT (which doesn't have a speed limiter) can't reach that speed - it tops out at around 135-140 MPH stock.

Now I know these cars are still pretty fast because I have one, but dude don't go around saying stuff like that unless you know -- BECAUSE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE unless you cut the speed limiter (which can be done - Look at performanceprobe.com) and have a lot of mods.
