Nothing wrong with truck at 13,000 miles plus. Have tough drive from high desert in to LA and back. Total of 82 miles, and am routinely getting 19 MPG.
Truck simply feels solid. Excellent rode feel for a truck, with a pretty good ride. The 4.7 engine appears to be very reliable. Interior is quiet.
I think DODGE has some serious issues to deal with, At freeway speeds you could hear airflow, i asked others SAME!.Brakes went out at 2500 miles, I asked others, SAME!.Tranny started its Clunking at 3k miles, Iasked others,SAME!!! I thought id give dodge a chance, I loved the look, now when I look at them I see a Truck made by Hyundai, Sold it asap, took the loss.I've had Nissans, Hondas, toyotas, Etc.Many with over 100K they drove better, were extremely reliable,& held their value. Dodge did a great job with their design, But that doesn't get you around. I love Quality,& as far as I'm concerned, their a lightyear away.
Just bought a 2004 Dodge Dakota. Feels great, quiet ride and smooth for a truck. Don't know about the problems others have had in the past. I am just loving it 2 days and 39 miles into the history of my truck.
This is in regard to the first comment about Hyundai. You cannot compare Dodge to HYUNDAI. I have previously owned a 93 Grand Caravan and a 99 Durango. I currently own a Santa Fe and a Sonata. These two vehicles are far superior to the rattletraps that Daimler-Chrysler pushes on the car-buying public.
I purchased a 2003 club cab slt plus with 4.7 engine with auto trans in feburary 2003. I now have 25,000 miles on my Dakota. This is absolutely the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have only had one very minor problem and it was taken care of in short order. The service manager at the dealership even gave me his four door ram to drive while my truck was in the shop. Would I buy another dakota? You bet and I plan too when my daughter gets her drivers lisence and takes control of the Dakota that I have now.
I just bought a 2004 Dakota I have had Chevy's and this truck has delivered. I have the 4.7liter club cab 4x4 it rides and handles great, granted I only have 2000 miles on it. I do think the interior could be better. The fit and feel is good. The power this truck has is above the average.
I work for a car repair, I want to see how the trans holds up, but with the 7/70 warranty it will be covered if there is any problems. I would suggest this truck to anyone that wants a midsize truck.
I purchased a brand new 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab truck. I have had to take the truck back for the brakes making noises when I back up, but whenever I take the vehicle in I can never get it to make the noise so I will need to get the brakes replaced, I currently have 18,334 miles on it and it is currently in the shop for warranty repair of what I do not know. I had the vehicle towed in on Friday morning and it is still in the shop. When I parked the vehicle water and oil came from underneath the vehicle. If I had known I would have so many problems with a Dodge it would have stayed at the dealer.
