2000 Lamborghini Diablo GT from North America - Comments

"Everyone should have one"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

So far since I have owned this car I have had no problems with it except that I have cause one accident because people were looking at my car instead of the road and hit someone.

General comments?

Overall this is a great car and I think everyone who can afford it should get one. The best thing about it is that I can hit 60mph when a light turns green before all the other cars get across the intersection. It's amazing!!!

Yeah, it's amazing how many kids post fantasy reviews. (Unless you're the owner of the single Diablo GT in north America)

Oct.20/04 How do you know if it's a fantasy review? There IS a market for these cars, and this reviewer was considerate enough to acknowledge that you have to be able to afford it. In Toronto, Canada there is a dealership downtown. Did the owners put it there for fantasy customers?

I must say I myself was also quite suspicious while reading this comment. The way this report is written gives reason to believe that this is a fake user!

Nevertheless, the diablo had also been and will also be a truly admiring car! In the city of Zurich in Switzerland I see every now and than 2 different diablo gt's. One is orange and one is silver! Every time they drive by the ground starts shaking. Instantly every single hair of my body stands up and my heart stops pounding as the monsters vanish out of site. The air still shaking with the brutal V12 sounds. This is diablo feeling.

How many times do we have to spell it out: The Diablo GT is ILLEGAL in the US! The Diablos you see on US roads are NOT GT's. The guy seeing 2 GT's drive by in Switzerland: probable. All these guys living in the US driving GT's: impossible.

Overall this is a great car and I think everyone who can afford it should get one. "...and I think everyone who can afford it should get one". that line, right there, says it all. this review is fake. no wealthy person of any type of status would have the nerve to say something like that, mostly because all of that person's friends ARE rich enough to own one.

Why talk about "status" regarding the Diablo, or any other car? If someone thinks the Diablo is an awesome car and can easily afford one, they should buy it for that reason, not because their self esteem depends on it. Not everyone has exotic cars for "status". That would be a sad way to go through life. I would drive down the road in any car there is, and hold my head up just as high.

I must agree with the above comment. If I was fortunate enough to be wealthy by any standards, I still would not by an expensive car such as a Diablo, M5, 911, Bentley etc.

I would be just as happy to drive an old mk 1 Mondeo or a 1992 Vauxhall Corsa. What I like about a Mondeo etc, is they are so common no one notices you and thus potentially gives less problems from third parties (vandels, thieves etc).

Lets face it, the average person like myself with an average occupation from an average background, perceives a person whom drives a top of the range Merc or beamer as a pratt. Because, lets face it, the number of times I have had problems on the road, whether driving my car or motorbike has been the result of a person in a Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen or Audi. People such as these think they are better than everyone else and therefore feel they need such a car to demonstrate that. But little do they know, they just give people the cause to be intolerant towards them selves.

To conclude, I would never feel that I would have to buy a particular car to boost my self esteem. I would be quite as happy to drive around in my previously owned 1983 Volvo 340. Shame it had to go.

The reason I bought a GT has absolutely nothing to do with status or self esteem. The reason I bought one is because it is just an awesome car which can deliver experiences you just wouldn't find in any other car. Even the newer Lambos lack a certain something when compared to the GT IMHO.

I have a sneaking suspicion that most (and probably all) of these "reviews" were written by people who have maybe seen these cars, but certainly do not own one. Ask yourself, why would a person who just dropped 200K on a car sit down on this site to write a 65 word review? I'm sorry, but most of these just sound lame. All these drivers report "absolutely no problems whatsoever," and that their car is "godlike." Gimme a break. I drove a BMW in the early 90's (a 7-series) and every 1000 miles something would need fine tuning. Now, the 7's are nice cars, but they need attention. A friend of mine bought a "used" Esprit for cheap and was astonished when he found out the cost of replacing the engine would be in 25K range. He, luckily, got rid of it fast.

These reviews just sound like kids dreaming. And let them, but don't pretend these are real.

I certainly believe the original poster is a fake, as his description of the car leaves a lot to the imagination, and doesn't fit with my own experience of the car. As to why a real owner should bother to post here. Why not - it's not against the law for super-car owners to be interested in what other people are saying about their cars. I bought my GT last October. At that point it was shipped straight back to the factory for a service, and has now been sitting in garage since December. Here in the UK they put salt on the roads to counteract icing, and until the better weather arrives in Spring, and after all the salt has been washed away, my car will be staying in the garage. If you still think I am fake then that is your prerogative. For anyone else who would like to see some photos of the car, have a look here http://www.88qv.com/25%20of%2080.htm.
