"A cheap car, everything is cheap"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car is like a tin can, bent easily everywhere.

Felt insecure driving it on highways.

Door is just 2 inches from outside and it's hollow!!!

No airbags, no ABS.

Lousy built in audio system.

Lousy alarm system.

Lousy car locks (the doors and the ignition key are same).

Lousy quality control. A lot of screws are not locked tight.

Hardest seat, it's like sitting on a brick.

Poor performance compared to the Mira models (which my car was copied from).

General comments?

Cheapest car here, no comment, but have to bear with cheap materials, cheap quality control and stuff.

Don't expexted very good quality and performance for Perodua Kancil 850, you pay only RM 30K and need the car quality liked Daihatsu Mira? why don't you pay RM 280K for a BMW 325i? No one rich liked you and said the car cheap and lousy, some 1 even got no car nowaday... Try to think urself, got much money who want Kancil? every one also need a Mercedes or BMW, but try to think not everybody is rich...

Don't compare the car with other expensive car! Its up to you.. rather you want to have comfortable and powerful car or just you buy the car because you really need it.

Its also depend on your monthly income. Some people totally cannot buy one single car so it is very happy moment for a person that can buy although a cheap car, but can be very useful to him/her.

I have test drive a few time, what can I say its nice to drive it especially in city like Kuala Lumpur because you have advantage upon its small body.

We comment on the car performance and built, professionally. Not the income of other people.

Well... insofar as taking you from point "A" to point "B" with no unscheduled stops at point "C" (being a point between points "A" and "B") the Kancil/Nippa is hard to fault.

However the fact remains that for what it is the Kancil/Nippa is HIDEOUSLY expensive despite being the cheapest car you can buy in Malaysia.

I'm not sure how much of this is due to Perodua's pricing policy and how much of it is due to the Malaysian tax structure, but 30k is more than most people make in a year. In contrast a VW Polo is available in the UK for considerably less than what the average Joe Bloggs would make in a year.

You park em side by side- Polo vs Kancil/Nippa. Then tell me which one is cheap and which one is expensive.

I just wonder that people always do is when the economy value is slow down where a car that can be afford can be a Kancil that is suitable in the factor of below given :

1. Your Income to pay or cash money to purchase

2. Easily maintainance and cheap

3. Good for the young that work

4. Good for parking space

5. Easily covenient for single or started family

6. Economy on the fuel

7. A good start of purchase a car (None small can't have big)

Whereby a good segmentation market have a lot of type of people, but income always everything when you come forward.

Yeah, I agree.

Go from point A to B in the most economical manner, save and buy a fancy car, lease the cheap car for people who appreciate it/.

I own an Kia Optima Novus 2003 (new Car) worth RM115,000.00. But next month I wanna buy a Kancil EX850 (secondhand) worth RM14,000,why? It is not practical and not economy to drive an Optima in a City knowdays. Traffic jam, fuel waist, very little parking space make me a headache everyday. I still believe that Kancil is a good car to drive in a city because it make me save my money everyday. Don't look everyone who drive a kancil is driving a cheap car. Look at the positif side that the car give to the driver and don't compare the car with the hundred thousand worth car. It's okay to own a Kancil, and compare to the fuel price knowdays, I think no other car will beat the Kancil. Am I right?

I own my kancil in 2006 and its my first car. I don't look at car shape or somebody has look it as "matchbox" car. I buy becoz its practical in town and have low maintainance and low fuel usage. For BMW or other "big car" (they thought they big), try use less fuel in traffic jam in large town like me! what?? cannot?? owh... so poor... then... stop Ur bullshit about kancil car and other mini car and try maintain ur car fuel and pickup in town. Don't drive slowly and make us have to wait ur turtle attitude in the road! Drive according like ur CC... if 1500cc...drive like you drive 1500 cc...don't drive like you have 50 cc... and when kancil overtake you when you slow...don't envy us because you are the most slow people in the world...

I drive a kancil 850 manual since 1998. I have recorded 210,000kms without much problem.

On one occasion I travelled from KL->Malacca->Muar->Air Papan->Endau Rompin->Kuantan->KL in a single day... just stop 3 times for makan, 1 time refuelin... so what's the problem with kancil??!!! Follow the speed limit sign and occasionally go at 120km/h.

Another occasion, KL->Kuantan->K.Terengganu->Kota Bahru->Rantau Panjang->Kota Bahru->Gua Musang->Cameron Highlands->KL in 3days... what's worng with a Kancil???!!!

Over the times, many day trips KL-Penang-KL, KL-Muar-KL, KL-Cherating-KL... its the reliability of a car and driving skills that is more important for a smooth and safe journey.

I've been driving Kancil since 2001... when it comes to look, agree that it is no match even to proton Juara, but it is not ugly either... performance wise, even a bike can sometimes easily overtake it on the road, but it takes me anywhere... lifespan, my mom's kancil has been running without major probs since 1997 and my friend's KIA Carnival has been in and out of workshop 3 months after the purchase... economically, nothing can beat the purchase price (except the above 2nd hand problematic KIA Carnical)... and fuel consumption, who can complain when it eats up less than RM150 of your monthly salary for driving around town...

My comment: for those who are sengkek as myself and in need to be mobile, get a kancil... you'll neva know how much you'll love it till you own it...

Kancil kancil. The way you prove to be useful is so ironic considering your flimsy bodywork suggests you would like to see me dead inside of you. And since you're so small I can't replace parts like I do on bigger cars. You're so small I have to get complete replacement kits for everything you find mechanically problematic...I'd rather pay monthly installments on a better used car rather than keeping up with your bitchy maintenance cost. I'm only glad I got you for free, otherwise I'd drive you into the nearest Perodua salesman your huge windshield can let me see. Other than that, I'd stay away from having any relationships until I get you replaced.

I have been driving my Kancil since 2003. Yes, I do agree that this is a small car. However, it is equally reliable to a big car. It still serves the mean of my daily transport. It brings me to everywhere.

Some people in the city saved money to buy an expensive car, but ended up suffer from high installment amount and high maintenance and fuel costs. They thought they will have good "face" or show off to their friends and relatives that how successful they are. But is that really worth to do that? Is other people really see you high because of that?

If you are rich enough to own a big car, by all means go ahead. But I don't see any rational why such rich people need to give bad comments to this so called "fancy car". This is totally different from your social class.

My advice to those big car drivers, don't think that your car is big enough to run at 160km/h or 180km/h on highway. And keep flashing your lights to front drivers. This is too rude. You think you are hero? Who doesn't know how to drive fast on highway with such a big cc car? Perhaps the compound penalty amount is too cheap for you, BUT Please be considerate and think of others' safety.
