We replaced the O-ring on the AC. $250+. Nope that wasn't the problem. The freon leaked out a week later. Another mechanic, a friend of ours, fixed it for free. After 3 months in working order, apparently the AC clutch is now broke. We'll find out tomorrow what the cost of that will be.
The CV boots need to be replaced.
We have a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. White with Gold Trim. The body is in perfect condition. It looks brand new.
Interior is in great condition too.
The air conditioner.
Has Jeep done anything to address this obvious manufacturer defect. The first mechanic said I need new O-rings. Cost me $250. It broke again 1 week later. Went back to mechanic for refund. He said Sorry I thought that was the problem. No refund. Now I have to have the AC clutch replaced.
I am hoping that we can get this AC issue squared away, so I can sell this thing before the Transmission goes on it. Sounds like it is inevitable.
The Jeep is a beautiful SUV. Inside and out. There seems to be a theme of repairs here though. If anyone has info on recall or class action against Chrysler or Jeep please let everyone know.
Thanks
Dean.
Well lower my ears and bite my toenails!
Looks like the one they replaced on my right front end is another unneeded expense brought on by crooked and dishonest mechanics. Interestingly though, 3 separate auto service shops rec. that I service it soon. Hmm...Conspiracy, coincidence.. Ya just can't tell anymore.
Good luck!
At 136,000 transmission had to have a complete rebuild including torque converter and both seals in transfer case and all u-joints and drivers side boot was ripped and had to be replaced and the drivers side motor mount had to be replaced. All for $2275.00 (out of town on vacation).
I have a 94 Grand cherokee Limited, had it for 2 years, and it seemed awsome when I got it then I replaced both front boots, then the transmission went and had to be rebuilt, the wiring harness in the door has broken wires for the mirrors and windows, the power antenna doesn't work, the back wiper motor ciesed up, the front wiper moter control module for intermitent wipers went twice, and the quadratrac all wheel drive is locked in more than it should be so turning on dry pavement really chews up the front tires. This the dealer said was about a 1500 dollar fix for the quadratrac, in general, the last cherokee i'll ever own.
Glenn.
The Grand Cherokee does too have CV boots. Every car has them.
1994 jeep grand cherokee limited. I ve had mine for 5 years now and with 110,000 miles the tranny seems to be slipping. A common problem with 93-98 jeeps that are used for towing. These trannys need to be inspected and serviced every 30000 miles or you will end up with a headache down the road. A tranny tune-up will save you thousands down the road. jeff from massachusetts.
