"A cheap, reliable, practical runaround"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Carburettor wear means there is slight hesitation or jerkiness when lightly on the throttle, not a big concern.

Rear suspension bushes are very noisy.

Brakes squeak when not in use. I think the pads have glazed over.

Brakes have faded quite badly on two occasions.

The interior is rattly

Some interior plastics are brittle, the drivers seat belt clip cover has broken.

General comments?

I bought this car after a second long period of having my other car fixed. It seemed a bargain at £550 so I paid up and drove off.

Its comfortable and quite roomy, though I would like more storage space.

The engine is good, if a little lacking in torque low down the rev range. However, further up the range and this car has a very decent turn of pace.

Has decent fuel economy varying between 35-40 mpg.

Handling is very good and the car is begging for some bigger wheels with lower profile tyres. The 13" wheels on it currently are a bit inadequate for the chassis though it keeps it fun I suppose.

Its nice and practical. It has a big boot and fold down seats.

Some of the interior rattles. I don't really mind on a car at this price, but it can be annoying. The interior is a bit drab, but again I don't care. It does the job.

It seems ultra reliable. The engine is over engineered and leaves you safe in the knowledge that its got loads of miles left in it yet.

Just changed a 1991 LSi 2.0 at over 220,000 miles and the engine was like new. Just a few other mechanical things were beginning to wear and time seemed right.

Excellent car with awesome reliability and pace.

New 2000 SE+ seems smoother if a little slower even with higher powered engine.

Does anyone whom has had a 1991 Nissan Primera LS, p10 know anything about the alternator on this car? They are supposedly prone to failure (due to fluctuating voltage) and the 67 amps are inadequate for this car. p10 owner.

Thank you.
