Had Mondeo a week now. Nothing major has gone wrong with my vehicle, but overall I am not happy with my purchase. See below...
I traded in my 2000 (V) Vauxhall Astra 1.4 for this estate. The look and colour of it sold it to me. (Harvest gold, big front, hehe). All together including insurance costs was £2000 more for a car a year younger. This mondeo is an estate version. For such a BIG car it handles very well indeed. Not too bad on the corners, and powers there when you want it. The basic problem that I have with it is that it's just not as smooth as my previous astra. I think for a car that cost £6000 on the forecourt, rattling and humming from the car is just not good enough. I am definately taking it to be checked over at Halebank car centre when I get the chance. I have preiosly precious owned a fiesta and was quite pleased with it (after all the damn work I had done on it!) and on the test drive this mondeo was fine as well, but the frequent noises and rattling are making me seriously think about elbowing the car, getting my dosh back and looking elsewhere. I will think twice about buying another car from FORD after this...
Why didn't you test drive the car? You would have noticed that it wasn't as smooth as your Astra (something I personally would doubt, but each to their own) within 30 seconds.
Hi...I've shared your experience - although nothing major has gone wrong with my Ford Mondeo in the last 4.5years that I've owned it, the rattles and noises are driving me mad... and although I've taken it to a 1000 mechanics and especialists, noone has been able to tell me what is causing the noise!!!
I've also had repeated problem with my airbag indicator flashing for no reason.. it went back to Ford to get fixed at least 6 times, they say it's fixed, but then it starts again... If anyone is thinking about buying a Ford Mondeo... think again...unless you want to free me of mine!
I have had loads of mondeos now, and they all rattle a bit inside.
Sometimes its just the parcel shelf, but more common is the door cards etc...
As a result I just no nailed them on, I know this not the best solution as you can't get them back off, but it worked, and car was rattle free after that.
My plan was there are loads of them about in breakers yards, so if anything went wrong in door, id replace the door, it doesn't take much to do.

Now if I get some cheap alloys and a roof rail and some...Hmmm.
