Was a bad leak in the boot, but was fixed by some silicon on the tail lights, it now has no leak.
At 96,000kms it began to be hard to start in the morning. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I can't hear the fuel pump working. It ocasionally stalls as fuel is not reaching the injectors. Any Help?
There is also a bad sound from the timing chain, this began a couple of months ago.
No other problems.
The car goes like a dog shot in the.
but, but no match for my brothers XU1.
The problem is not located in the pump, but with the DFI module. Check the computer (stick a wire into two ports in the connector under the glove box - the right two will cause the engine to start - record the series of flashes and check with a dealer) it will come up with a Electronic Spark Timer problem. The DFI modules wires will have come loose (get a holden dealer to fix it - they willprobably do it for free as this is a no brainer). The result of this is a car that stalls intermittently, but starts again almost immediately. The fuel pump however just gets noisier with age, not actually a problem, if you are really worries just replace the filter and it should work fine for another 120000 km.
I have taken it to holden about three times for this problem and still no joy. They have tightened the crack sensor and DFI harness.
The problem is that it will not start when I leave it for about 4 hours or more.
It takes about 10 minutes for it to then start, and I'm worried that it will begin to stuff the starter motor.
My father says that the fuel may be leaking back and there is no fuel pressure.
PLEASE HELP.
OK heres the thing I had a fairly bad starting engine when I first got my vp the thing I did was empty the old engine oil out. flushed anything that was leftover and put some brand new oil in I don't know how this helped, but now my car starts on first go. Just try it.
I have a 1992 VP a few days ago I pulled up in my drive way and it stopped. I started it once then it stopped again I had just filled the tank. the motor turns when I try to start it, but it just won't kick over. I cannot hear the petrol pump so I took the filter off and tried to start it to see if petrol spilled onto the ground, but there was nothing.
Does this mean that the pump is shot.

Hi Steven.
Yeah I am having the same problem with my 97 model VS Acclaim and it starts on a full tank of fuel OK then I can be driving along and the car just stall. At this point it is pot luck as to weather it starts or not.
Right now today at 2:30pm 22/2/2005 my car gets reds, the engine and fans and pulleys and belt turns, but my car will not start. I too cannot hear my fuel pump and I do not know why my car will not start or why it stalls.
I have been told though that it could be the crank angle sensor that does this I have not replaced it yet however when I can afford to do it I will do it.
However if you know or if anybody else knows how to rectify this problem please let me know on guitar6rhyth at hot mail dot com.
