"Buyer Beware.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought this car because I heard nothing but good things to say about the malibu compared to the 1995 Corsica I used to have which was a money pit itself. The malibu was purchased with 95,000 miles, but looked and drove like it came straight from the showroom floor. After 3 months of ownership, I noticed that the tail lights had condensation in them, but were also turning pink around the outer surface. I then looked at the headlights and it was the same, but instead of being pink, the headlights were yellow and very unclear. I went to the dealership and they said the lights were not under warranty to begin with and certainly weren't now. So Iwould have to buy the entire light because the gasket around the lights are not sold separately.Soon after I noticed these problems, my air conditioning decided to go on permanent PMS and turn on and off by itself. I brought it to my mechanic who changed the A/C module and replaced the now blown compresor due to the constant on and off actions which totaled $568.20. The problem has yet to be fixed due to the fact that every A/C module from a junk yard doesn't perform any differently which means it must be a defect due to the complaints I now have started hearing. The car is basically trouble free (at least my one out of millions) for now, but will be traded in in July for an import. Since then, my mechanic which I bought the car from has not purchased a Malibu from auction for his used car dealership. Can you blame him? I now understand that GM dosen't "build the cars America knew they could." If they can't build better, I will buy better. The warranties actually Warranty parts on import vehicles despite the higher cost. I'd rather pay more for peace of mind and less grey hairs!!

General comments?

This car MAY be better if bought brand new though I understand many people have had more trouble with new Malibus than I have had with mine. If you are looking for a good fixer upper, new or used, this car has your name and account number on it!!

The AC cycling on and off is completely normal on this and many other cars.

Not sure why it is normal for AC to cycle on and off...
