I don't remember much about the car itself.. it is still sitting in my ex-husband's yard. I now drive a Beretta GT.
I tried to tell my nephew NOT to get his Cavalier;he did and I told him not to say I told him so... My husband now says he had problems with his Cavaliers too.Everyone else I have talked to that had one had problems too.
Where can I begin? Okay in the three years I had it on the road these are the list of problems:1.Went through three alternators (if you buy one of these cars, get the lifetime guarantee) 2.headliner fell 3.head blew 4.heater core went out 5.back seat leaked water somewhere 6.computer chip needed replacing 7.paint job went bad (I think it was a Chevy thing that year because my Beretta is doing the same thing).8.windshild cracked too easily 9.head (after replacing it) gasket cracked. 10.It overheated constantly 11. ran out of gas when the line wasn't even on the orange!! The list goes on... it is still sitting in my ex-husband's yard.Dead, not working, no body wants it. I don't recommend this car, never will... This is a poor excuse of a car (this was a 4-door gun metal grey) and a lemon and they needed to quit THESE cars, not the Beretta!!!
Don't waste your money on an 1989 Cavalier!
I don't know what you are talking about. I have two '89 Cavaliers, a two door 4 cylinder I bought new that has over 180,000 miles and a Z24 convertible I have had for four years with 165,000 miles. Both are are doing great. These have been trouble free cars despite my neglect of service and hard driving.
I have a 88 cavalier the very base model with no options and no lie that car has been through it all, hard corners, quick braking, 5000 miles past a oil change, its even been mudding and I've never had one problem that isn't standard upkeep and by that I mean oil changes, tires, starter, just touch ups and its just took all the abuse and enjoyed it. they are great cars I would recommend anyone getting one and if your smart when buying you won't regret it.
