My clutch went at 15000 miles.
My clutch went at 21500 miles.
Every so often I get a horrible grinding noise coming from my brakes, and there is a slight loss of braking ability.
I bought this car to tow my horse to local shows I was told by the sales assistant that it coul tow 3000IBS. Which made it a suitable car for my need, so far I have only moved my horse trailer in its unladen state and every time I come to somewhere where my car has to use a little bit more power than usual I get a terrible burning smell and failure from my clutch. I will now try to get the vehicle investigated from the dealers. The work has all been carried out under warranty so fortunately it hasn't cost me anything. The brakes have been checked by the garage who say that there is nothing wrong, but it can be a little worrying.
I agree with this entry. My brakes make a grinding noise as well. I was told that it was because there was dirt in the brake pad. We had them cleaned, not covered under warranty, and they still make the same sound every once in a while!

May I join you folk? I too have a 2002 Santa Fe which I love/d.
My clutch too has failed at 48,000 miles. Not bad compared to some of you. Bill will be £700. My mechanic tells me that they are replacing it with a single rather than a dual mass fly wheel.
Have of course approached customer care at Hyundai and await nothing I expect.
Apparently it is a recognised fault to most Hyundai dealers, one of whom suggested that if it had been a cheaper issue that Hyundai would have placed a recall on this model!
One dealer suggests that is common practice for the dealers who are in the know to soak the clutch arm, that often appear to be freezing, in a solution.
Of the four dealers I spoke to, two whose sales were significantly higher of the Santa Fe, had replace 'hundreds' sic. between them.
I am to ask Hyundai what percentage of their Santa Fe have been returned with this problem. How many gullible drivers have started to question their innocent driving techniques?
Their reponse will possible lead to National Press as lies, avoidance of reality or of course the ultimate... Jeremy Clarkson. Please all concerned write to Jeremy at Top Gear care of BBC 2 London. What a good Sunday night that would be.
Thanks all for contributing as is fuels us all.
