"Baby SS a true beast"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

None at all.

General comments?

This is the baby SS. It may not have all the features of a normal SS, but it's a BBFYB. The performance is excellent. Also has not had not used a drop of oil as well. With some decent modifications and 18" alloys and slightly lowered it will look sweet as a nut. Also its quite fast as well. I am very happy with this basic V8 beast.

Hi!

Please post a follow up when you have racked up a few more k's on your car.

Holden has majors with most of these Gen 3 engines & I would be very surprised if you don't discover any noises over the next 10,000.

If you don't, think yourself very lucky as everyone I have spoken to & know that has these vehicles, VX, VY with Gen 3 has had problems including me. My boss has a brand new monaro that had to be rebuilt at only 1000 klm.

Also if you do have probs, be persistent with Holden as they have common & known faults that they will first try to pass off as 'acceptable' noises or defects. When you argue your case, they will suddenly state that yes the Gen 3 does have known problems & design faults.

Just because you have an aluminium motor, doesn't mean that it should knock like you have thrashed it for the last 5 years.

Best of luck to you..

Have a series 1 VX SS and has done over 82,000 k's and have not had any problems with the engine at all.

Hello here is a follow up after I clocked a few k's on my SV8.

Actually has done 31,650 on the odo now and has been great. A few warranty fixes for niggly little problems, but mechanically no worries at all. If you run these engines right and not to glaze the cylinder walls you should not have any problems. It does not drink oil or has any piston slap. It just gets better and better each time.
