Nothing, the car runs just fine.
American Motors Corp had a real winner with this car It runs great and has looks that are still up to date thirty three years after it was built.
The interior is very nice and the high back bucket seats are very comfortable.
The best part of owning this car is that you do not see your self coming and going as you drive it around town.
I had a 1970 AMX fastback with the 390/4spd combo. The only problems I ever had with it was that the solenoid for the starter would fail in damp weather and that every cop in town used to pull me over to check it out and tell me they used to own one.
I have a black 69 AMX, and they are wonderful cars. The only problems I have ever had with my car is that pieces that break on the interior are almost impossible to find in good condition. I have had more fun with this car than with my 69 corvette, 65 GTO, and my 93 Rx7. It is quick on its feet and turns well for the peiod. The best part is all the questions of what is that and so forth. If you can afford one buy one, but make sure the body is in decent condition as patch panels are fairly hard to get.
I had a 70 also, only problem I had was the heater core. Fastest in G.R. in the mid 70's. After I sold it I found out why. Someone worked the heads over. Wish I could find that car.
I had a 69 baby blue AMX... loved it. It must have been rare I can't even find a photo it came with side pipes, hurst, 390, black leather, tail,... only trouble I had was water in taillights... hmmm and when you laid the seats down the arm rest stayed up. I sold it to benny and the jets band in detroit for $800 in 1974
