"Very bad reliability risk!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Overheated at 32,000 miles due to failed water pump. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

Rotor failed at 33,000 miles.

A/C Compressor failed at 55,000 miles.

Overheated - water pump failed again at 60,000 miles. Replaced with non-Mopar water pump.

Sway bar links failed at 65,000 miles.

Overheated again at 80,000 miles due to coolant recovery tank leakage.

General comments?

I totaled my Intrepid recently and am glad to be rid of it.

I actually wondered if I'd make it to work every day.

They are very bad reliability risks in my opinion.

Apparently your was a lemon. I have two of them, a 97 Sport edition and a 96 standard model with a 3.5 engine. Both have well over 110,000 miles on them. Both bought used, but both have been highly reliable, FAST, comfortable and cruise at 75-80mph on the plains of Dakotas with no strain.

I Bought a 1996 DODGE INTREPID, 3.5 with 60,000 miles on it.

At 90,000 miles, the water pump went and I had to have a dealer install it with new belts, pulley tensioner for $800.00 (no one else will do it!) becuase it's inside the motor.

At 110,000 miles the transmission will slip if I give it a lot of gas, so I baby it and it acts fine.

At 120,000 miles, for no reason the main bearing frozed up. I had to buy a used motor for $2500 installed and now this motor is knocking like it has a bad bearing.

It will need a 3rd set of struts.

It is dependable, safe to drive, but I will not buy another no matter how cheap, and they are going cheap!
