It's a little known fact that the manufacturer's of Eastern European vehicles used some odd materials where they could, to save money. The use of a composite material made from compressed nut shells as a substitute for plastic is an example. Perhaps the gripping of the steering wheel at high speed both produced the smell of walnuts and contributed to the shearing of the steering wheel.
Well here I am as a result of buying a Wart burg badge at a car boot sale. it seems to me that they were built to go forever, reading the comments about the walnuts sure made me laugh. when I was a teenager hanging around the snooker
club back in the 70,s the owner of said club had a Wartburg
estate. he was well in his seventies was old Dudley Walters
and he carried fruit machines, tons of stock and the kitchen sink in the back and on the roof. we knew when he was coming due to the popping noise and the cloud of white smoke. he was a very wealthy man, but he stuck to his Wart burg, one thing I do remember was the smell of walnuts
coming from the car just after he landed. a great motor.
Never mind "walnuts", this reviewer, who appears in many other reviews, and who has an odd fetish for "bob weight governors", "rear seat problems", "gear sticks and steering wheels being sheared off", is definitely NUTS!!
Don't forget "two stroke warbling...":P...that phrase is in several of these reviews:P.
