PIECE OF...
The car is a horrible gas-guzzling monster. I never seen anything like it.
The tires and brakes got worn out after only about 10000 km and I got them fixed.
The drivers door squicks badly when opened.
Engine makes noise when starting the car.
Transmission got broken and needed fixing. Fixed under warranty.
Some hose got torn. Replaced as well at 50$
The fuel pump didn't function right. Got fixed under warranty.
Paint starting to wear off.
The car is slow at accelarating.
It's horrible especially at stop lights when you need to accelerate.
On the highway, you can't notice all the 290 HP it has, feels more like 140...
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone in their right mind.
Do you have any idea what you are talking about here? You obviously have not a clue as to how a car works. "Transmission got broken, got fixed under warranty." Okay, HOW did the tranny get "broken"? Are you that bad a driver. The transmission DID NOT fail under warranty because of the car's fault. Okay you are talking about a Thunderbird here. We have the 2003 model as well. Not a problem. I hate it when people like you make it out like any problem a car has is a major crisis. "some hose had to be replaced." Who cares, you could replace it yourself for a few bucks, stop complaining. "the tires and brakes wore out after only 10,000 km's, I got them fixed." Okay einstein, tell me how you managed to wear out tires after 10,000 km's? Maybe you had low pressure, or you did huge burnouts, or you are such a worriesome driver that you left your left foot on the brake all the time. And do explain to me how you "fix" worn out tires? I think you should replace worn out tires.
"the door squiks badly when opened." I think you meant squeaked, but whatever, I am not correcting your grammer, I am correcting your embarressing lack of car knowledge. Why not lubricate the damn door hinge? Do you not realize that is all it needed? "The paints starting to wear off." How could it wear off? Do you wash and wax it regularily? No? Then shut up about the paint. "the car is slow at accelerating." I feel embarressed for you. You just made a HUGE fool out of yourself there. You are just that bad a driver that you don't have a clue how to shift. Learn a few things about cars before you bash ANY car.
Not to mention that the 2002 T-Bird didn't make the "290HP" he mentions. My 2002 (and all other unaltered 2002 models) make just over 250. He mush have pulled the 290 figure from a 2003 model Internet review or something like that. He obviously doesn't own a T-bird and just has issues with the car. Perhaps his girlfriend left him for a guy that has one :-)
"Engine makes noise when starting the car." The engine is supposed to make a noise when you start it, and also while it's running. This lets you know you still have an engine. "Transmission got broken and needed fixing. Fixed under warranty." Like the first guy said, how did it get "broken?" Do you even own a damn T-Bird or is this just your daddy's and these were the words in which he explained it to you. Write a review when you grow up and actually have driven one.
What are you talking about you don't even own a damn T-Bird the tires wore out at 10000 km. what kind of driver are you. Maybe you thought you owned a T-Bird so you bought a fifty year old car and call it a T-Bird. You disgust me I own a vintage 1955 thunderbird and not one little thing has gone wrong with it I've been driving it for fifty years. You are an embarrassment of a driver.
My husband and I feel very blessed to own a 2003 Desert Sky Blue Thunderbird, it was our 30th wedding anniversary gift to each other and we are just thrilled with it. We were able to carry on a family tradition as my father-in-law owned the Robin Egg Blue 1955 T-bird. This car was the family car for a family of five, the kids stood up behind the bench seat in the front (this of course would now be considered child endangerment), but a good time was had by all and everyone survived. Actually we had looked at other two seater cars and we decided for the money we were getting the best of both worlds, how many other cars give you so many options for the money and let me tell you even the Mercedes and BMW people look at our car and you can tell they are wondering what is that beautiful car? We are very pleased to own one and very proud.
Better get one while you can.
Ford has just announced they will end production of the T-bird in July.
They claim in their news release that they only intended for the T-bird to be a limited-production "image" vehicle.
Yeah, right, like they would still be discontinuing it if it was selling well, which, unfortunately it hasn't been since the novelty wore off...
My 2002 Thunderbird is fantastic. Not a single problem. Accelerates well. Faster than the Camaro I used to own. Good gas mileage... over 20 miles per gallon. Glad I got one while they are available. The original poster, with all the complaints, impresses me as someone who has never been in a T-Bird who just wants to "trash" the product because he is a fan of some other brand name.
The Thunderbird is the equivalent of my Riviera or a El Dorado, a high class LUXURY car with all the bells and whistles and a decently sized v8 to get things rolling, it wasn't meant to have sports car acceleration (though I'm sure it could with the right amount of work.. LOL) it's a remake of one of the best looking cars of the 50's, and a chance for young guys like me, and older men and women who might have had one when they were my age, to own a piece of American history..
