Good Year Eagle tire vibration at 75mph corrected by dealer with premium Michelin tires upon 1st request.
This car is incredibly fast for its size (0-60 in low 6 seconds!), while providing a quiet, comfortable ride if driven calmly.
This is my second (and won't be my last!) STS. Both have been extremely reliable with low operating costs - particularly when compared with my past Mercedes and Jaguar.
I have had no problems except a crank shaft position sensor on my 2000 Seville Touring Sedan which was corrected after only two visits, the car runs great and I have 15500 miles. It is a blast to drive and my dream car. I hope it lasts.
I agree!, I would not trade my sts for anything, these are the cars that saved cadillac, the northstar engine is the best engine cadillac ever came out with, I will agree with the cadillac haters that the 4.1 engine was scrap, but hey, everybody makes mistakes.
I got my used seville sts with 30,000 miles on it. It is stiff compared to my last sls and it's a bit more rattly than you would expect from a caddy, but it is a sportscar and its ride is going to be a little firmer. I do believe, however that the sls is a better riding car as far as the suspension goes. Its smoother and doesn't rattle as much. It doesn't have a lot of the goodies that the sts has such as the sebrano wood wheel and door panels trimmed with it. The moonroof seems to rattle also and it seems lower to the ground than my sls. I only have the sts for 2 months. It does use some oil, I've already noticed, and the tire pressure changes daily. I still love it though as do I love my sls which I still have. The stereo system in the sts is fantastic. I read that at high speeds the sts is troublesome, but mine seems fine. It is a bit smaller inside and out than previous years, but at 6foot4inches I still can get comfortable with the seat back. So far on a scale of 1to10 and considering it is a 2001 with 32000 on it and that I paid only 25000 for it, I give it an overwhelming 10. Thankyou, I've had 6 caddys so far and I loved every one of them. Sincerely, Tony.
My 2000 STS is a great/sporty car - the best on the market.
While enjoying the sporty ride, I did notice major problems with the vibration in the front suspension.
I had to change my Good Year Eagles tires after 20,000 miles for brand new ones - I selected Vredestein high performance tires (very expensive), but since I haven't been experiencing any problems.
Finally, you need to forget about the driver heated seat, not reliable and very expensive to repair.
Yes, it does burn a lot of oil for such a great engine. You need to check constantly.
