2001 Peugeot 206 coupe cabriolet from UK and Ireland - Comments

"A complete heap of junk"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The head gasket blew at approx 20,000 miles.

The handbrake broke.

The indicators stopped working.

The radio didn't work properly.

It was pinking and running very badly.

Start up was awful.

It felt unstable.

The brakes were inconsistent.

My front brakes were the wrong

specification from the factory.

The door wouldn't shut without lowering the window. The glass was getting caught on the outside of the frame.

The dials kept dying.

The steering has problems.

The temperature sensor broke so the computer thought it was overheating. I had to keep stopping.

All kinds of strange and worrying noises coming from the engine compartment.

Few other things, but can't remember off the top of my head!!!

General comments?

This car is a joke.

Such a shame as it looks really good.

Dealers and Peugeot head office don't care about my problems at all.

Don't buy one.

Well...this car was not engineered for an African rally.

I wrote the review for 'A heap of junk'

One item listed has since been told to me not to be completely accurate. I was given misleading information. In the interest of fairness to all please remove the bit that says the brakes were wrong spec from factory. The rest is all fine.

Fantastic review, very true about Peugeot not caring about their customers! I bought a 206cc last August and I have lost 4 months use of the car as it has been in and out of the garage.

I wish I had read this before I bought it as I would NEVER buy another Peugeot!!!

My CC has not suffered with any of these problems and is one of the oldest CC's on the road. I think it's a great car for the money, but I must agree with you on one point. Dealers are disgusting. Peugeot need to sort out their service departments.

I completely agree with comments made. I bought my 206cc almost two years ago. Next week it is going back in for the 10th time - STILL with a leaking roof. I wrote one of the reviews about the car being a lemon. Peugeot don't care about their customers. Everyone I know who has this car has the same problems. What a waste of money.

I agree, the 206 CC is a complete lemon. We've spent almost £1000 trying to fix an intermittent engine problem on ours. It's currently in AGAIN having its tappets replaced, after only 20 000 miles!!

Mysteriously no faults are ever covered on the warranty! The car is a joke, but the Peugeot service staff are worse. They appear to have no clue what is wrong with the car, are very rude and arrogant.

We will never buy a Peugeot again, in fact we are desperately trying to get rid of this one, if Peugeot eventually decide what's wrong with it!
