"This is the last Chrysler product I will buy"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

For starters, the front brakes and rotors had to be replaced at 36,000 miles. Since it was a used car I assumed the previous owner's driving habits were the cause, but since then have heard of other brake issues with Chrysler products. The head gasket blew at ~60,000 miles, a $1,000 repair. The AC developed a leak at ~ 65,000 miles. Now at 71,100 miles, the oxygen sensor melted; it didn't just fail, it melted and so did the cable harness connected to it. The manifold had to be removed to replace it, a $600

repair.

General comments?

Roomy interior and comfortable, although

it doesn't make up for the lack of quality.

Maybe Chrysler will learn some things about quality from their parent company Daimler, but I doubt it.

I have had my 1998 Caravan since it was new. I now have 151,000 miles on it. It has been a great vehicle for the money.

I did have the transmission go on it @ 72,00 Mi. but it was totally covered under the warranty. I had a $500.00 AC repair @ 83,000 Mi. and that is all until now. My years of minimal service have caught up with me, and the timing belt has gone on it. but I can't complain.

I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. We bought it used in 2000 with approximatley 45000 miles on it. This is our 3rd Caravan.

The first 2 Caravans had transmission problems at around 70000 miles. The 3rd van has a 3.8 liter engine and its transmission lasted until 126,000 miles.

I need help with a problem we have had on our 3rd van. There are times it just won't start. You can go back a couple of hours or a day later and it will. It has had a new starter, starter ignition, battery, relay switches, spark plugs, fuses, you name it it has it and it still won't start sometimes. You can drive it and the dashboard shuts down, the ABS light comes on, and alarm set.

If anyone has this problem please respond.

Thank You.

I have had the same thing happen to my 1998 caravan. All of the sudden it won't start, the gauges and interior lights freak-out. I think it may be possessed. Did you figure out what was wrong with your caravan? What was the cure & cost?

Keith.

My 98 Dodge Caravan is excpetional...150,000 miles and no serious issues... maybe because we treat our cars with respect.
