Replaced oil sending unit in 1995 15,000 miles (approximate)
Had a Vacuum sensor replaced in 1995.
When it rains heavy, the passenger floorboard looks like a swimming pool.
Paint is finally starting to go (blue in color), Can't believe it lasted this long.
Transmission "bumps" a little when you first pull off.
Mileage is actual (I don't drive it that much). Has been a very good truck. After 12 years, I expect things to go bad even though mileage is low. I have pulled a 6,000 lb boat and trailer up a boat ramp and about a mile up the road without a problem.
Overall, this truck has paid for itself and I hope to continue to drive it for 12 more years.
I own a 1992 Dodge Dakota 3.9 litre v-6 standard with over drive. I bought it in 1994 from a previous owner and found that the truck at 150,000 kms is fairly reliable. The troubles that I have had are passenger seat back will not come forward. Cup holder started to come out by itself and it has been doing this for two years now. Had problems with the vehicle engine dying at a stop, usually in damp weather so took it in and the mechanic changed the plug wires and points seems to be running better now. The truck is comfortable to drive and is good on gas mileage. The biggest beef I have with this truck is the rotten paint job Chrysler did. Two years ago a man started a campaign to have all people that owned the 92 Dodge Dakota to call Chrysler and ask for a complete paint job done. I was one of those the paint on the truck started to peel real bad on the hood the front drivers panel the back quarter panels and the tail gate. I got a hold of Chrysler and they told me that it wasn't their fault after many calls and a lemon parade held in various Chrysler dealerships they agreed to talk. After a rep came out from Chrysler they came to a conclusion that they would only pay for the paint that was peeling, I said to them, but if I do just the ones that are peeling it would make the truck look stupid with the other ones not so I said I wanted all the truck done or I would take it to a different route. As things turned out the guy that started the campaing lost in court because of the time length I too was to late resulting in nothing getting done I guess the only humiliation Chrysler gets from me is when people ask why my paint is falling off I tell them the story. What I would like to know is why Chrysler would let people down like this I guess when you think you're as big as they are the consumer is just another number. I wish people could stick together and say that we will not buy another vehicle from Chrysler maybe then would big companies listen. I know in my job if I screw up I am accountable for my actions. Is there any one else out there that had this same problem?
