"Best lasting hauling truck for the money"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The transmission went out at 150,000 miles. The truck hauled trailers every day before I bought it and I was stuck it in a field pulling a trailer when the transmission went out. I had it rebuilt and the new transmission lasted about 130,000 miles. I continued to haul heavy trailers with this transmission. The water pump started leaking at 250,000. This was due to still having the factory antifreeze in it. I have problems with the door bushings. They holes have become larger than normal and the bushings won't stay in. I have also had problems with the seats wearing out, I am talking about the track.

General comments?

I think it has been an excellent truck. It has 280,000 miles and the motor has never been touched. I do not baby the truck. It hits red-line at least 2 times a month. I do change my oil often.

I am the proud owner of the only 94 C1500 Silverado with factory leather. It's loaded (350, tow package, buckets, etc...) My dad bought it brand new Oct 1994. It now has 170k. The engine is original. Trans replaced with GM SERTA 4L60 at 72k. Heads replaced due to recal (blowing blue smoke.) Front end is tight, but steering is loose (gear box replaced about the same time as trans) Brakes pull to right, and have since new. I have the same problem with the seat tracks. When you drive the truck the seats rock and make nasty noises due to the tracks being worn out (Since I have a power seat it will be about $1000 to replace both sides.) The leather is in bad shape ($750 from Katzkin.) The body has taken a beating. No rust, though. My doors are also due to be adjusted and hinges rebuilt.

What irritates me the most are the little things that always break. The third light cover, front lights and turn signals and wiper motor. Except the motor, all are age related. My A/C makes an awful racket when turned on (possibly the pulley.) The inside is still fairly rattle free.
