Not really any problems since I got it, but I've replaced a lot of stuff just to make it better. Ever since I've got I've replaced the radiator, headers, exhaust (3 inch),4 barrel carborator, rebuilt the transmission, B&M shift kit, center line performance rims, 2 side fenders, hood. I put in som copper gaskets in the headers cuase I had an exhaust leak so replaced them with copper so I only have to tighten them. But other that I really haven't had any problem except for the interior cause that really sucks. Seats are torn up and dash its kind of cracked. We took out all the air conditioning equipment, for less weight.
Overall I think this car is badass. Its my favorite and I've never had another car. I've taken 5.0 gt's, grand prix gtp's, integras, and a lot of other cars. But I've also lost too.
Race a 5.0 stang with a half decent driver and you will tell me who has the faster car.
Obviously, you don't know your grammar very well, and I guess this is why you like "stangs". I'm sorry. When you get educated you will realize that a stang is a poorly designed, horrible handling, pathetic waste of money. I'm sorry that you own one. How many ladies has your family stang attracted? Grandma?
There is NO WAY a 305 TBI Camaro with an automatic can beat a 5.0 Mustang. I see so many of these 80's Camaro owners claiming they can take a Mustang and it simply isn't true (check any Car and Driver or Motor Trend article from the 80's and get the numbers...). You may get the best of another driver if you launch better or they just can't race, but as far as the actual car being faster... no way! I had two 5.0 Mustangs and I never met a Camaro guy that claimed to be faster (never mind beating me on the road). Funny how when you are standing there with both cars, they're not so fast to claim they can beat you! Keep dreaming!! Even a TPI 5.7 Camaro won't best the Mustang. 0-60 was around 6.7 for the 5.7 Camaro and a half second quicker at 6.2 for the Mustang. As far as picking up girls... I don't need a car to do that!! HEH!!!
The weight difference plays a big part. The camaro is a big car.
I think the 305 TBI and TPI Camaro had something like 2.73 gearing which made it slow on the 1/4 mile and 0-60. However, did your 5.0 Mustang get 27 mpg on the highway?
Actually BOTH of my 5.0 Mustangs ('88 and '90) averaged 27-28 MPG on the highway... Thanks for asking.
My 1986 Z28, not a 305 mind you, target master 350 eats up most 5.0s. it has a four speed auto with a mean shift kit, stock gears, Flowmaster exhaust, cammed up.
80's 5.0 Mustangs might be pretty fast, but they've got nothing else. They're not nice looking cars; small, boxy, plain ugly.
