There is a recurring fault on the car. When the engine is disengaged, waiting at a roundabout for instance, or when changing gears the revs. will reduce and the car stalls.
The dealer says this is a known fault with Vauxhalls and is caused by a "filter" getting blocked. The car is currently waiting to go back in to the garage for the same fault again.
Has anybody else got this problem?
The ashtray will not stay closed and to replace it according to the dealer will cost around £100.
The car is very comfortable on long journeys and cruises effortlessly at high speed.
It has the best turning circle I have ever had on an estate.
The 2,0 litre engine is not really big enough for it and when the air conditioning is on the performance when pulling away is seriously effected.
The stalling problem sounds like the classic Ecotec Idle Speed Control Valve problem : go over to www.topbuzz.co.uk and look at the 'information' - 'technical guides' pages. there's loads of useful info. for these engines.
In terms of the ashtray problem; I had this problem the other week : the outer plastic 'skin' of the ashtray trim had come away from the inner plastic shell. I gently levered the 'skin' off and pushed it back on firmly : took all of 2 minutes.
I've had the same problem of stalling on my 2.0l which was rectified simply by cleaning the large breather pipe from the rocker cover.
