"Nice Car, but Wet"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I had a problem. I just purchased this car... which I have all service records from. The car seems to have had some minor problems, but nothing major. I had discovered a problem and have no clue why this is happening. I floor behind the drivers side rug is soaking wet... Window wasn't open, sunroof closed (no signs of water). Water anywhere except on the floor? Any idea's? A/C leak maybe?

General comments?

I really love this car. I do see some rust around the rear door tops, but I'm having it all repainted so that doesn't matter. This car seems to run great, but I guess time will tell.

Great on gas not like my Dodge Intreped ES for sure.

Your water problem is probably due to one of the air conditioning hoses that take the moisture out. I had the same problem and there was a rubber hose disconnected. Look under the dash and see if everything is all right there. If you cannot locate it start the A/C and after you have ran the car for about half an hour let it idle and start looking for dripping water somwhere under the dash. I hope this is helpful.

The problem was the drain had rotted away causing the water to come back into the car :) that was easy.

I have a '94 318i and one day I found water in both front floorboards after going through the car wash. I have taken this car through the car wash many many times before and never had leakage. The weird part was that the water first became obvious in the middle of my rubber mats and when I lifted them up, the carpets were very damp. It was a moderate-sized puddle on both sides. I run the A/C cold enough to freeze Eskimos out all year and I also drive through heavy downpours, but the water has never come back. I'm wondering if the car wash forced water into the car from underneath as there were no signs of moisture anywhere under the dash or at the higher points in the carpet.
