"A high maintenance vehicle"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Left rear axle bearing went bad at 38,000 miles. Replacement cost about $300.

Right rear axle bearing now needs to be replaced. The cold weather seems to adversely affect the bearing tolerances.

Manual transmission problems at 105,000 miles. Troubleshooting cost is over $500.

General comments?

The 2.0 Liter engine does not give enough horse-power to merge into typical driving situations.

The suspension does not handle typical road conditions well.

The four-wheel drive feature has been useful and performs well.

Re: 2000 tracker. Just bought it in March of 2004, presently has app. 63,000 kilometers on it. App. 38,000 miles in standard mileage. So far we really like the interior, the ride, the overall appearance. Unfortunately it has cost us excessive amounts of money so far. The rear right bearing and axle went costing us,$1400.00 to fix. The exhaust went costing us considerable expense. The rear brakes needed replaced already. Only my opinion,, but,,, this is my second tracker and given the history of our previous tracker, I would not purchase another one. The quality is much lower even on the newer ones than expected. Sorry, but that is how I see it. I hope you have better experiences than I.
