I drive a skoda fabia with a 1.4 16v 75 hp engine, which is the same as the one in the Audi A2. I seem to have had the same problem: when driving at high speed the engine sometimes seemed to fall out for something like a second and then runs on normally, slowing the car briskly.
Car has been in numerous times, without result. My dealer arranged for VW to take a look at it. Now the problem seemed to be solved (at least the problem didn't occur within the last two months - knock on wood). Dealer didn't tell me how they fixed it though. My advice: ask Audi for a thourough check-up.
Recently had problem with 2001 A2 TDi SE with a sudden lack of power. Local dealer advised and we were told to bring car in for inspection. At this point we didn't realise the turbo had blown, but driving it down damaged the cat and rear box on the exhaust. Resulted in 1500k bill. Complained to Audi/ dealer, but no joy.
