"A Modifiers Dream"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The Exhaust Back-Box developed a large hole.

The Anti Lock Brakes light stays on constantly, I've had it checked out twice, but nobody knows what the problem is.

General comments?

This Car is a Modifiers dream. I bought it as a 1.6i 16v running around 130 Brake Horse Power, it's now a 1.8i 16v running around 210 Brake Horse Power. I've Skimmed and Polished the Head, and had it Bored out to a 1.8, I've also had a Stage 1 Chip added to the Programmed Fuel Injection Unit.

It runs 0-60 in around 6 seconds, but only had 130 out of it Top End. I'm thinking of adding a Turbo Unit to it, and getting a new Gear Box fitted as the standard one is very low.

It handles like a dream on 17 inch Alloy's, and the Koni Adjustable Shock Absorber's keep it from leaning around bends.

It's a excellent car with lots of easy way's to make it faster.

Interesting!

How were you able to bore it out to 1.8 liters?

What pistons did you use? Integra's?

Cool mate!!! Did you change your gear-box? I want to change mine and put in a close ratio or just a short-shifter. Can you offer any advice or name of a web-site to a fellow concerto owner. Thanks.

Hey bud

I'm currently in the middle of fitting a b16a DOHC Vtec 1.6l engine and gearbox out of a CRX to my concerto. If anyone out there is trying this conversion it is not a straight swap. The B16A blook is 20mmlonger and only the engine mount at the cam-belt end will line up. Wiring isn't a drama if you get an 88-91 crx half cut. B16A is a reliable 160 horsepower engine and should be a good drive car. The gearbox is supposed to have an LSD in it and close ratios. see how it goes.

I owned a ma-3 1600/16 valve Concerto. I added a 6 inch coby and a pod filter, which gave it 10 more horse power.

Before changing your single cam 1600, try giving it extractors too, so long as its the gem3 model.

And for the person trying to give their Concerto a CRX engine; it should be no problem, I've seen it done from with a b16a Integra engine instead. However, the high revving 1600 engine already in there will give you plenty of fun. Mine certainly has (JXi hatch).

As for turning, get used to it; it's breeze to control after a lot of driving. It will powerslide, brake drift and handbrake very comfortably and controllably at speed, and in a second! If you thrash it though, there is a chance of the crappy Japanese electrical components breaking; all of mine have.

A good fun car; got it to 200kmph, so 140ish mph on a practically stock engine (downhill).

Maan this car is out a the world. Im in India and the parts for this car is a tough deal 2 come across. But anyhow I have fitted a dual xhaust with local made headers. N my car is giving me a top of about 165 km/h. Which is kinda good as it is a 1992 model.

The only screwup is that the gascade burns out very fast.

Is there any solution for this.
