First of all this car was not our first choice we wanted the tiburon which we've heard is a better car. Within one month we had to have the spark plugs changed due to the car losing power when starting off in first gear, and often the engine light still will come on during accelleration. The acceleration is slow and often takes longer then nessasary to get to the speed you want to be at. The paint on these vehicles are the shittiest I've ever seen. The simplest thing will scratch this car and right down to the metal. I've seen better paint on my child's dinky cars. I've spoken with several people who own accents and are also not happy with the car. One day of driving around the city we kept our eyes open to see how many accents we could see that people had purchased and of the 2002 every one we had seen had a cracked windshield, and honestly we see about 20 of them this is not a good ratio. Our windshield has a big chip in it a little rock hit it, I've owned other vehicles before and that would not have happen and did not happen on any. of them!
The dealer that this car was purchased at (Saskatoon Hyundai - Canada) is not even interested in taking the car back therefore this car must not have have been worth even being on their lot in the very first place.
They would consider it if we put an an additional $4000 into the purchase of another one of their other lines of vehicle.
Why should the dealer take it back? I don't understand.
I own a 2002 Accent which I bought about 3 and a half years ago, used. Right off the lot the Transmission blew, then the acceleration problems started. More recently I had to get my spark plug coil package replaced due to the CEL light coming on. I had to get this done 3 times before the dealership told me I needed a new computer in my car. This is going to cost me about 1000.00 on top of the 400.00 I already put into the spark plug issues. So now I have the CEL flashing at me constantly till I get that done. Also, after replacing all of my belts at 60,000 miles as recommended, they do nothing, but whine and screech now. My breaks have been replaced 3 times and it still makes me uncomfortable because the pedal still goes all the way to the floor, one day I'm going to slam into the back of someone. I still owe about 3,000 on the car (yes, I got screwed), but I'm looking to get a new one because I'm irritated and feel unsafe.
