Few problems. Just needed a waterpump and a carb rebuild.
I have been a C-body lover ever since I could drive. I just love big cars... and no...I don't have a small one! Its like being on sofa except you have an accelerator and a brake pedal! This is when Chrysler made rockin' cars. Anything from 1966-1973 just kicks ass. These cars are extremely durable if you take car of them... meaning change your oil every 2000 miles and your all set! Nothing like drivin' and puttin' on some Zep!
I concur with your comments. I own a 72 Plymouth Fury III and have found it to be a very dependable and reliable car. It floats down the highway and have owned this particular car since 1988 and have no desire to get rid of it. It does have a few problems with the interior dash and window molding, but as yet have not found anyplace where I can obtain parts. Other than that it's a very good car.
1970 Fury 111 2 dr ht.
This is my second 70 Fury 111, 2dr. I bought the 1st one for 200.00 when I was seventeen. It was a 318 that would lay two tracks. 7 years ago I bought a big block 1966 Dodge to fix up and cruise in. 3 years ago I finally found my present 70. It came to me with with 31,217 original miles, bias ply tires and a 318. I sold the big block car to get this one. The seller safetied the car, (it took a single high beam light to pass). I have since added correct 70 road wheels, a 340 4bbl intake and cam, and dual exhaust. In 3 summers I've added 10,000 miles to the car because I can't stop driving it. My wife and I cruise all over Ontario in the car. This is my last Plymouth. This is the one I keep.
I have a 1973 Plymouth Fury III and I love her. She’s been a great car, and I’ve had her almost as long as I’ve had my wife and kids. Her name is Fiona, and my kids got a big kick out of it when the movie Shrek came out and the Fiona in that movie was green too. I’ve had the car for eight years now, and gave $470.00 for her. I’ve probably got about $5000 into her now.
The only major problem with her were her valves, since she was not intended to run on unleaded, I’ve had to replace the valve seats and tinker with the top end to keep her running at optimum performance. (H.P. 360 c.i.)
I use her for a utility vehicle so she is equipped with 6 ply truck tires, air ride in the back, and a raised “A” frame with heavy-duty shocks in the front for added ground clearance. Front and rear saddle bags for rifles, tinted windows, and of course fresh paint.
I live out in the middle of nowhere in rural North Dakota, so a “go anywhere” car is as necessary as it is fun. My other rig is a 2005 f150, but I still have more fun driving my old Fury.
Yeah, I couldn't agree more with you guys! The 1963-1975 Mopars are the best cars ever made, and I don't want to drive anything else.
My first car 1973 Fury III. I have had many cars since, but the Fury will always be my favorite and hold the most memories of my teenage years. I wish I still had the old girl, my first love.
