Little bit of rust on front left strut tower and lower body in front of the driver's side rear wheel.
The SR20 turbo pulls very strong and is very torquey, even off boost. If you want extra performance upgrade the exhaust and dump pipe, as I have done.
The standard intercooler is a little too small for hot weather, so would recommend upgrading if you use the boost a lot.
Handling is very nice, understeering when pushing into a corner too hard. Despite having lots of power you can still boot it around corners and not worry about the tail coming out. I havn't had much trouble in the wet either.
Interior is nice, and having climate control is great. The back seats don't have enough room for an adult to sit comfortably. Also the Standard speakers aren't the best, okay if you listen to soft music, but distorts with any bass.
I also own a Nissan 180sx, all I can simply say is great car, trualy an engineering feat. Do you drift?? I do!! the only problem is while I was running at around 18psi, my ceramic shaft cracked and I had little ceramic pieces scattered all around my engine and bay. There should be more of these cars around, they are fantastic!!! good work mate, keep it up!!
Guys, Totally agree definately an engineering masterpiece from the late 80s onward. However the handling of the vehicle as a standard factory vehicle is poor and I have also experienced this problem with the s14 200sx. the new 350z is an absolute dream to drive and has an enormous amount of power 289ps for a naturally aspirated (Non Turbo). Nissan is definately value for money. Enjoy.
Hi guys I'm turning 17 in a month and I just brought a 180sx. Best decision of my life. Not too much drift yet, but then again mum has been in the car and she doesn't like the idea of hitting a corner sideways. Yet theres plenty of time for that later.Aye. Cheers Boys.180s are the drift kings.
I have owned a 92 NZ new 200SX for 3 years (yes, it's a 200, the reg papers etc say so) and its superb - with regular servicing, Mobil 1 oil and by using a turbo timer, the performance is quite impressive - all I have done is fit a replacement K & N air filter to the air box and lower it an inch all round. Its on Bridgestone G Grid 3's and corners like its on rails at high speed (hehehe...) and still turns heads as the shape and styling hasn't dated. My next car will be a S15, Nissan build great cars!
Yep - I have had my 1993 180sx since 1999 and it has been very impressive in all that time. This year I have replaced the old engine with one from a 2000 model and it is even better. Great handling and heaps of speed. Now if the petrol prices would come down I could start driving it a little bit faster :o)
I love my 180sx.I've tuned my 180sx and I love it. Before I tuned it still worked great. I didn't like the stock seat because they hurt my back. Overall I love it.I'm thinking about, but putting a S15 front end on, but I'm not sure that's legal.
I own a 1993 model 180sx SR20DET, I am still running stock turbo with 14.5 P.S.I boost. The engine however has been rebuilt with forged Arias pistons and rods, the car also has a cusco coil and spring suspension set up and is extremely hard. not the most comfortable ride, but the car makes up for it with sensational cornering ability. at my last track meet I ran a 13.7 second quarter mile time which I was really happy with. all round and absolutely fantastic car for relatively cheap.
