EVERYTHING. Tranny, Engine, wiring!~
This car was an overpriced piece of JUNK!
I agree with you. I own a 1992 es300 and everything that can break has (and continues)
1994 Lexus ES300
Looks great and runs even greater..
If it is such a piece of junk try an ACURA TL. Thanks. I've owned an ACURA and a LEXUS. The Acura is underrated. They are fast, luxurious, the leather interior is a lot better and will kick an Lexus ass in racing. Consider one. Take it from a person who has owned both. IF it wouldn't have been for Honda making the first Japanese luxury car called Acura in 1986 there would be no Lexus. So take it from the first.
I own a black ES300 and I enjoy it. It has been a great car. The only thing that needed replacing was the timing belt and water pump as far as unscheduled maintenance is concerned. I figure $600-800 dollars in a 8 year period is spectacular track record. The major contributing factor to this car's longevity is the person behind the wheel. If you treat the car with respect and not hot rod it all over the place it will last. Vehicle abuse will lead to abnormal and premature transmissions and engine wear. Just common sense folks. It is not rocket science!!! I love my car. It is the most dependable vehicle on the road today.
Overpriced? Yes, no question. Piece of junk? Well, that's subject to some debate. My own experience with the car fell somewhere in the middle. Overall I was disappointed. In retrospect I think the money would have been much better spent for a newer Camry. The ES300 is, after all, the lowest of the low-end Lexus cars. That's great if you just got to have a car with the Lexus name on it to impress the neighbors, but if you're looking for quality and reliability you should aim higher. The 94 ES300 might have been a good car in 1994 but having recently owned one, I'd have to say it is a poor choice for a used car today.
Geez, you guys a way off base. I know that the Camry and the ES300 are similar, but they are worlds apart. Have you ever driven a 1994 Camry? I have and it ain't no Lexus. As far as price... Well, when it was new it was way over-priced. But, a used one can be had for less than $10,000. I got mine at an auction and have been nothing but pleased with it.
Got mine In Fla. timing belt, and CV joints were the only problem. love the smooth ride, and she loves it when I baby her. J. NY.
Yeah, I guess Lexus is just an overpriced piece of junk. I mean, how else would they outsell every other luxury manufacturer within one month of the brand's introduction (1989 for 1990 model year). And how else would they manage to win JD Power and Associates "Most Reliable Vehicle Nameplate after Five Years of Ownership" every year of it's eligibility (8 years and counting). I guess it takes a piece of junk to do that.
I recently bought a 94 Lexus ES300 and have been very pleased with it. The only problem I have is finding accessories to fix it up. I would like to replace the headlights and tail lights to go along with a new paint job and rims. But, I'm having a hard time finding a website. But, the ride is smooth as silk, the interior is immaculate and I'm happy. It is about the owner... treat the car right, and it will last you a long time... these cars were built to last.
I don't know what some of you are talking about. The es300 is a great car maybe not the old ones. Take a look at 97-2001 they are the best in their series. 2001 looks abit odd. My 98 runs great and it's a great family car. I would take this car over a Acura TL anyday. Thhe design is great and if you have a lot of the options it great. Like adding more goodgrain, chrom wheels, gold package, tinted windows and a priemum sound system this caar is amazing. It isn't as nice as the other models, but it's a start.
I have a 1997 Lexus ES300. It's a great car and I love it. It has no problems at all. It's the perfect luxury car on earth, which is affordable.
Are you from West Virginia?
The Lexus ES300 (old body style) typically has outlasted every major competitor. With the comment about the wiring, I can safely assume you tried to install a booming radio, air shocks and neon lights under it. The car deserved a better owner. Change the oil, drive it and don't monkee with it.
ID10T!
I have a 94 Es300 and the problems that I have so far is my water-pump and my timing belt.If there is anyone out there that knows the best way to fix these probglem's please help me Facemobb from Florida.
Okay who ever says the only problems I've had is my timing belt and water pump. should read thier owners manual and they would see that the timing belt is due for a change at 96000 km, as for the water pump its just maintenance. so if your brakes wear out is that a problem or is that just maintenance.
Timing belts are not other than normal maintenance. Anyone who thinks needing a timing belt is a problem is wrong. Just like the comment above its part of the 60,000 mile serive I belive. My LS400 recommends it at 90,000 but I did it around 75,000 just to be safe. My 94 ES300 runs fine. I don't drive it as much as the LS400 for it only has 54,000 miles. The ES300 I use on Long trips for I think the gas mileage is way better. I'm a Lexus driver for life. I just ordered a new LS430. I don't need a new car, but I couldnt resist, to nice of a car.
