"It's a constant headache that rides nice"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The front right brake caliper locked at 105,000 miles.

Hydraulic steering unit starting leaking at 110,000 miles and was replaced.

Fuel Rail started leaking at 112,000 miles and was replaced.

Constant problems with electrical system entire time of ownership.

Currently must disconnect battery each day to prevent battery drain overnight.

General comments?

Looks great.

Handles great.

Very comfortable.

My repair bills have equaled my car payments though.

Your battery drain is due to a problem with your day time running lights. THERE IS A SHORT OR MODULAR PROBLEM TO CHECK.

I have recently purchased a 1991 Dynasty LE 3.3 litre, with 159,000 kilometers, in good shape really for the year. Replaced the front strut mounts, some catalytic work, and a new battery and alternator (120). The battery is however flat every morning, even after a full day of driving.

It has been suggested that the engine wiring harness may be ready for some work, or there is a short or constant feed by the radio. Also, there has been numerous suggestion that there is a short on the ground from the battery.

My question is: Is this a common problem with the Dynastys?

Please advise, as otherwise the car is very comfy and a good driver.

Regarding the problem with the battery draining every day: I had the same problem, but found out that there are two little lights for reading or atmosphere (whatever) that are situated on both sides of the car, close to the rear seats. Those two little round lights are very hard to see when they are left on because they generate almost no light, day or night. We kind of wonder why they were installed. By turning them off manually, all the daily problems with the car were over and the battery stayed charged for years. Hope it helps you.

1990 dynasty Problem when driving along normally and for no reason loses power for one to two minutes and then fully recovers. What might be causing this. I know it is not freezing up. Fuel filter is clean. This car has the 3.3 liter engine.

For an old car with just about 150k miles, you have nothing to complain about.

If you determine the problem let me know. I have a 1991 dynasty with the same power loss problem. I would say wiring, but it never acts up when connected for computer analysis.
