"Once you have got all problems fixed it is a great car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Initally when I bought the car, the engine needed changing because of a major oil burning problem.

Also I've had to do the rear wheel bearings, they had a lot of road noise.

More recently I've had to replace the front thermastat gasket because one of the bolts worked its way loose.

The ventalation system in the car smells really bad and I'm still trying out how to fix it.

Initial carburettor had a problem with causing the car to over rev, this was nothing to do with the choke sticking either, it just made the engine scream while I was sitting in traffic.

General comments?

With a change over engine from a mechanic I know it works perfectly.

A reconditioned carby fixed all the over reving problems.

Extremely economical, I consistanly get 10 (kpl) or 10 (L/100km)

Very good at towing, I have towed triple what is recommended and it has no trouble. A good work horse.

Airconditioner works well, but the ventation still does smell.

You may have found that the idle was too high of the accelerator boost thing that's is connected to the cable for the butterfly is stuffed. Just take off that boost thing and you will find that the engine braking is more effective and gear changes more precise. but removing it makes the car idle at about 500 rpm in traffic with the a/c on!
