1998 Oldsmobile LSS Supercharged 3.4 from North America - Comments

"Fitting tribute to the"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Front anti-sway bar bushings @45k $150p&l.

Bad fuel pressure sensor @50k $175.

Fuel Sending Unit @75K $425.50 (part only no aftrmkt - dlr wanted $750 p&l to replace)

H2O pump, $64 part-$200 labor.

OEM Driving lights are upside down and reclaimed from the Bravada or a minivan (L&R are reversed) so they collect H2O and corroded. I threw them out and am looking for aftrmarkets to plug in.

Lots of tires :-)

General comments?

Had non-blower '96 LSS, so traded for this super comfortable car, great ride, smooth handling.

Steering wheel controls, climate control, dual pwr seats, moon-roof, automatic load leveling, auto dim rear view and driver side mirror, compass.

Enough power (note redox pulley size) to embarrass grapefruit-shooters at stoplights.

Practically invisible to red-n-blue lights - grampa?

If you had a 3.4 you may have a collector's item. As far as I know, they only had 3.8's.

When the owner said he had a 3.4 he was talking about the size of the supercharger pulley. He has changed it from the factory 3.8" pulley to an overdrive pulley for more power. Note his comment about the "pulley redox". This is a common change on these engines and adds a lot of power. Just thought you might want to know.

This guy before me is totally correct, they only made 3.8's. I have a 1996 3.8 supercharged that I acquired from my pops. Runs great good gas mileage and definitely a sleeper with 77,904 original miles. Right now I'm starting to replace ins and outs because everything is original. No problem, this car will be a classic and I will hand it to my son. Classic lines and good suspension make it easy to love, and where I'm from... not too many people know about these cars. I always turn heads Cristal!!!
