Not yet, although the injectors were sent to Diesco for reconditioning. A few other bits will be need replacing, the clutch for example, is massivley heavy, to the extent of having to use your whole leg to press the pedal down. (very wrong here), clutch kit being about £48+vat..
Time to change it being more of an issue..
I've put on the 1.6GTi pepper pot alloys, that were on my original 205 GRD, I had bought them from a large scrappy in hamps, for £80 for 5, with almost new tires. :)
Looking forward to the performance, after comming from a 205 GRD, and then a new 106 1.5 Diesel..
I am currently attempting to remove a 405 TDi manifold to use the 405's inter-cooler, and then also increasing the boost pressure, hopfully this will give around 90hp at most.. in car that weighs in a around 850-900kg, it should be very nippy indeed. Looking forward to pitching it against the 'boy racers' in their Nova SRs and Fiesta XRs.
Better than 50mpg..and even more if you fit an inter-cooler..
With a max speed of 105mph and 0-60 in 12s from the factory, with increased boost and the application of the intercooler will possibly increase capability to 110mph+ and 0-60 in less than 10s :) all in a 1.7 diesel!!
Get one while you can..
You might find fitting an intercooler system from a 405 harder than you think. first off the condition of it, the matrix of the intercooler tends to corrode in steel and pipework deteriorates. Best go for a new one. Make sure you get some one who knows what they're doing when you up the boost as you put it, unless you're a specialist yourself. Anyway I think you mean recalibrate the diesel injection pump. If you try to place too heavy a demand on your 132,000 mile engine it will probably blow up, throw a piston, oil pump failure, fail the MOT emissions test, etc.
Is your 205 3 or 5 doors. If 5 you really need to think about strengthening the body as it won't be strong enough. There were no 5 door GTis for a reason!!! Make sure your brakes and suspension are in good order as you'll need them and I mean in tip top condition. there are enough death traps on the road without creating another.
