The XR2i is a good car for the money but not as well put together as modern Fiestas. A soundproofing kit sorted the road noise but the crappy steering really does let the car down. Very little roll in corners, just the damn inprecise steering rack!!
Thank god the boyracer image didn't catch on with these cars or I wouldnt have bought one, excellent value!!
Having just bought one myself I would say that it is a rather fun little car to drive that actually does go like snot when you want it to. A good car to potter about in as well as have some real good fun, it's a beast in disguise to all of today's new fangled boy racers with their max powered saxo's (oh dear!). The XR2i is a bargain if you ask me. They have not been given the credit they deserve!
