Sputters badly and stalls while in gear or while driving. Stalls while idling.
This is my first car and it has been a hard learning experience for me. A few words of advise... Get a Mechanical Inspection before buying a car!! Yeah, I know it's probably common sense for most of us. Anyway after replacing the starter, alternator, fuel filter, brake hoses, and air control valve, my car still sputters and pounces and stalls. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this please email me at adelepoubelle@hotmail.com. I've paid $4700 for the car plus about $1800 more in fixing. I'm tired of being raped of money by my car!
Well said about spending maybe $50-$75 for a pre-purchase check by mechanic being mandatory. Even the most seemingly refined folks will not tell you what you need to know if you don't ask, and even if you do ask will sadly sometimes flat out lie about it. I've made the same mistake of being to trusting of the seller--let's face it, when it comes to money, most people become dishonest, particularly when selling a vehicle it seems!
I recently lost my job so had to sell my 1999 Acura Integra cause I couldn't afford it anymore. With the Money I got back from the Bank, I purchased a 1991 Honda Civic "AS IS" for $1200. From day one this car gave me problems it sputtered and stalled plus the radiator went out on me. I finally decided to get it fixed. It took 3 different mechanics and an extra $1200! The distributor not just the cap was bad, the plugs were bad, the fuel injection system was replaced, oil was changed twice the radiator was replaced. After all that, the car still sputtered and stalled. I took it to another guy who adjusted the Fuel Mixture and now the car runs like Brand spanking New. I kid you not. Check the distributor and the Fuel Mixture...
Check your timing belt because it probably needs to be replaced. (Just pull the top cover off to check the rubber)
Yep same thing happend to my car.
