Engine wise speaking absolutely nothing went wrong!
Dashboard continues its decomposition. Honestly I don't know what's still holding it together...
Driver seat broke.
It's absolutely amazing how this car is still going after I've done to it. I use it mainly in high way, always pushing it to the limit. Only has 4 gear manual transmission and still it reaches 160 km/h without much effort.
Fuel consumption is amazingly low (5.5 ltr per 100km, if not pushed to the limit).
Comfort is excellent and even though seats are fragile, they help a lot.
Road holding is great. I often forget that it's fited with the tire size recomended by Citroen: 135/80 R13.
The structure seems pretty solid, but interiors are extremely poor quality wise. Only door fittings seem solid.
Quite spacious for a 5 door 3.5m car.
Overall opinion: if you're looking for a very cheap car to run, cheap to buy, incredibly fast a safe on road, this is it!
Is it true your dash is in a decomposition mode? Mine is not as it already passed away. In fact I am going to order a brand new one (hopefully-if not extremely expensive). Common fault on Mk1 models. Mk2 models which have different dash design seem quite solid.
I still have this car parked outside my home. Once in a while I connect the battery cables to another car and it still runs:)
Dear friend, I'm from Portugal and I'm 19 years old. This Christmas my parents bought me one Citroen AX 1.1 RE just like
yours!! =D The only difference is that my car has 3 doors... I really liked your comment about the car, because I discovered several things that I didn't know about it.. The car is better
then I imagined..! Best regards, Joao.
One more thing I forgot to tell.. Mine is like new... It has only 94745 Km.. I made already something like 1000 Km with it.. =D.
Well I wish the best of luck with it! If you by any chance need any advice just let me know... I bought another AX, this time a 1.0 Club from 1994.
Diogo.
