CV boots cracked and drive axles had to be replaced.
Undercarriage extremely susceptible to rust.
Check engine light turned on, dealer found nothing wrong then replaced computer and light remained on. They wanted to replace it again for additional cost, but I declined. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I have heard vague rumors of wire harness shorts.
This is a very comfortable car with acceptable power. Would recommend the S for additional power though.
Excellent bells and whistles, though I am worried what will happen when they start to fail.
Replacement parts are very expensive.
I have a 97 Mazda millenia my CV axles needed to be replaced I payed $411.00 and they are still making a popping noise. and my engine mount also needed to be replaced I payed what would be $80-$100 on most cars I payed $345 most of the parts are only available at the dealer. I shell out a lot of money for this car and then shell out some more for parts with this kind of money being spent I probably could have a Mercedes S class. I like the way the car drives, but for the cost of the car and the parts it makes you feel like you are driving a luxury car, but without the navigation system and the tv screens. I feel the car is too high maintenance and in that way it is not really worth the money.
I just thought I should mention that I'm also having the Check light coming on and off for no reason, though I've yet to take it to a dealer to see if they can find anything.
I bought a used '97 Millenia S (jet black, beautiful) with around 80,000 miles on it and so far I've only had to do the standard maintenance on it. (which isn't really saying much yet considering I've only had it for a little over 1 month)
The exterior design is very nice though and people often think I'm driving something much more expensive car then the $2,800 I got it for. I also love the combination of comfort and speed!
We purchased a 1995 Mazda Millenia S in January of 1997. 2 months later are car began to slowly burn through coolant, when we brought it to the dealership they suggested a dye test to detect any leakage. Nothing was detected, and then they informed us that it was a high performance engine and it would go through more coolant then normal. Young and nieve we left the dealership believing this. 3-4 months went by and then our check engine light and oil light would randomly come on. When our vehicle was inspected again, they informed us that we needed to replace our super charger. Estimated cost $3000.00 on top of diagnosis charges. We were able to locate a used super charger for $1,500.00 and Mazda would install for $500.00. 1 month later our oil light was still coming on, and our car was burning oil. The dealership had told us this was normal and that our engine was burning all of the bad oil out and it could take up to 6 months to fully clean itself. 1 month later the check engine light came on and the car was losing power while on the highway, eventually losing all power and stalling. This time our engine needed to be replaced do to oil starvation. Estimated cost for a used engine with no warranty $9,500.00 and $14,000.00 for a new engine. The car sat for the next 3 years while we continued to pay off our loan. You might wonder what kept us going back to the same dealership, and it is because there are few people that knew how to work on a Miller Cycle Engine, our options were slim. Several months of dealing with the dealership and Mazda Corporation we got nowhere. After contacting the Better Business Bureau we were informed the dealership was not a member and there was nothing further they could do.
I would not recommend a Mazda Millenia S or any Mazda car for that matter to anyone. We struggled for years making $400.00 payments on a vehicle we could not drive, I do not wish this upon anyone!
My 1995 Mazda Millenia continued to die with no warning in city traffic plus the check engine light shined brightly for about a month. I took it to a local garage in downtown Denver who advised that they could not run the diagnostics. $50.00 and a visit to a Mazda dealership later, I got a laundry list of maintenance issues totaling $1200.00! One item quoted was a air flow sensor. The dealership wanted over $400 for the sensor so I returned to the garage who installed a new one, (they had to buy the sensor from the dealer) for $275. The check engine light remains on as does the ABS light. I continue to watch my temperature gauge and hope for the best. I was told that the garage should have entered a code that would have cleared the check engine light. Has anyone had good experience with getting the lights off?
Yes I had a similar problem with the check engine light coming on to turn it off if there is no serious problem just disconnect the positive cable for a bout 20 seconds and connect it back. That should take care of the check engine light!
I have a 1995 Mazda Millenia. When I got it I couldn't even tell that it was running. Now it barely runs at all. I've had it for 1 year. When I give it gas it almost goes dead. No one can tell me what's wrong with it. I've had it on computers and they do not throw codes for anything to be fixed. When I give it gas even if it is about to go dead it spits and sputters and backfires and the neighbors call the law because they think someone is shooting. I finally replaced the computer which if new was going to cast $1,004.00. But I bid on a used one for $5.50. I put it in and... no change. I thought that maybe it was used and broken, but it might have a different problem than the one I took off. I could go on for days, the passenger seat belt is now broken, the leather is tearing, the wood grain dashboard is breaking off, the list goes on and on. I would never recommend a Mazda Millenia to anyone. And I feel sorry for anyone who has one.
I own a 1995 Mazda Millenia. I've also had so much trouble with this junk. I bought it in 2000 for $11,500 + 100lbs. of beef. Yes, 100 pounds of beef included with the purchase of the car. Anyway, about 2 months after I bought it, the Millenia would not shift into its third or fourth gear. I payed $1100 (included labor) to get it installed. A few weeks past and once again, the transmission had to be replaced, luckily it still under the parts warranty. A year later, the water pump had to be replaced. Then in 2001, radiator hoses needed to be replaced. 2 months, later 2 more hoses needed to replaced. In 2005, the water pump and more hoses were replaced. Finally, I'm saying "I GIVE UP!", I'm selling it. Hopefully, the person who I'm selling it to doesn't have as much bad luck as I do. Plus, that cars full of new parts. Hehe.
Just bought 95, and this thing is great. only two issues, one button on the passenger side next to the gear shifter is missing. whats this missing button for? and when I close the door the security light on the drivers side dash blinks all the time. other than those issues it appears to be a great car for a 1st time car owner. please help with issues.
Help! I have a 95 Mazda Millenenia with about 133,000 miles. The TCS OFF light comes on in slow moving / constant breaking traffic which eventually cause the car to lose power and stall. I brought it to two service stations including a Mazda dealer who ran diagnostics, replaced cables, battery, tune up, etc. and the problem is still there. When the TCS OFF light comes on it is hard to press down on the brake. Also, sometimes when backing up out of a parking space, it seems to aggravate the TCS OFF light. By the way, I had this problem all last summer and this spring/summer, but it did not stall once in the cold winter. I greatly appreciate any help on this problem!
I bought a '95 Millenia in '98. It had 48k miles. Truly has been one of the best cars I've ever owned. So much so that when my tranny went at 135k I had it rebuilt. The car is fast for its class, sleek styling, quiet and responsive. Mine could be a bit tighter on curves. But every time I see it, I smile. I really like this car. But if you're considering buying one, I wouldn't unless you know how to fix 'em yourself. Every dealership I have dealt with has tried to cheat me, done poor work, been jerks. Thankfully, I've always been smarter than them. I've only found one dealership that's good and I've been to four. And, parts are ridiculously expensive as is every repair that it needs short of oil changes. And, there just aren't that many mechanics around that are good with the S model, which is what I have. Still, I absolutely love this car.
I bought a 95 Mazda Millenia a few months ago, had 125k miles on it, but it ran great. However, due to the crappy autoshop I bought it from *used* *and I was naive* I trusted them and bought it.. it ran great, and they changed my front brake pads for me, however it kept on squeaking. Now, 3 months in, went for an oil change and had them check the car out.. Overall the car was in good condition.. other than my rear wheel and rotors were screwed up, so had to get a new rim *110$* and 2 new wheels *around 300$* also had to change rotors and calipers on the rear *300 for rotors, 300 for calipers.. damn* and also had to change my hoses... though, aparently the previous owner had put in a new distributor which was hot.
I spent 3400$ for the car itself, and around 400$ for paperwork and license plate etc to be done by the dealer *bull price* but ah well.. The car's been running great on me, and I've had no problems at all. However, the car has a tendency to not drop down a gear *i suppose it's normal for automatic cars* so sometimes when I want a fast start from a red light, I shift it down to 1 or 2 gear, and then after it speeds up I change it back up to D. works pretty great, but I've been told that it's bad for my engine, though at 126k miles, I guess it can't really screw up more than it's already had with it's 10 years of wear and tear...
But yeh, 95 millenia, still with it's original engine and all, so it's worked pretty nicely for me.
I would recommend the millenia if you want a nice, respectable looking car for a cheap startup price, however maintenance and replacements can be a killer if you're not careful.. I mean, 3400$ for the car, like 1000$ for repairs... kinda crazy... but I mean it's still cheaper than 10000$ for a 99 Integra, which my friend bought.
The gas consumption isn't that bad, I only need to gas up like once a week if not 2 *given that I drive every 2 days to 3 days. But overall it's pretty good. Torque and responsiveness is pretty good, as well as turning, though it could be a bit tighter, I haven't given it a test.
Anyway, there's my few cents on the Mazda Millenia, any other comments would be great.
I brought a used 1995 mazda millenia and the first month or so it drove great and then all of a sudden I could be going along and it would jerk like it wanted to cut off and then it would cut off, but start right back up, and then it got to the point where it would cut off and not start back up for about 5/10 minutes. I have had the fuel filter and distributor replaced. I have had the fuel injectors and intake values cleaned and it's still doing the same thing.
Help!!! have anyone else had this problem and if so, can you share what it was and what did you do to take care of it?
Thanks.
I Have a 95 Mazda Mil which I bought with only 60,00 miles for $7,500. (never heard of the car, but it looked nice) I've put over $3,500 just to keep it going from point A to Point B...I've Had the water Pump replaced 3 times and right now it's still running above the normal temp...I've changed the Radiator, Thermostat, and had the timing belt Changed... and I change the oil once every 2months and tune up about every 6...Thus car has put me through Hell...I sure hope the new Millenia are a big improvement.
I bought my Mazda Millenia new in 1998 and have treated it very gently. It has only 67,000 miles. I have just been informed that it needs a new transmission, and I cannot believe it. Estimated cost over $3000. I thought this car was great until this happened. I would be interested in learning about others' experiences with transmission life on these cars.
I just bought a 1998 for $7500, I had it 2 weeks and I was told the super charger was going bad. Prices for ONLY parts was $3178... I couldn't believe it, 2 WEEKS after I bought it! Is there any advice???
