Someone tried to steal it with a screwdriver on the driver side so I can't open the door. The hood opener broke, actually that's it. Almost forgot the air valve on one tire had a leak.
Haven't had the car very long and the jerk who had it before me has repainted the car. It's a real Martini Edition but mine is Porsche silvergrey. I guess that's okay but it will get a respray when I have modified the fenders to GTR.
A bad ass car when you get to know it. Mine is a little faster than standard because of some fiddling with the air and I'm gonna make a engine stabilizer very soon. The GTR kit is coming on in winter, we are gonna do a little lowering very soon and adding 205/55 tires on the stock rims.
That's all you need for a thrill, it's also a lighter car than stock and a cooler interior.
Could be a little faster but I'm gonna get me a 944 soon to so I'll think I change engine in my 924. I'm already on it, my friend got a 3.0 litre in his, it runs like a rocket, he has also added turbos. The car sprints 0-100 kilometers in 3.98 seconds and has a topspeed of 297kmh and 589 horsepower.
What did you do when you "fiddled with the air"?
Well, why would you ruin a Martini edition with changing motor, color, fenders and so on? This is a valuable car in original shape. Get some other ugly 924 cheap to fix up, that is most fun. But like Martini edition. that's a holy one, you got me right? :)
How did he get the 3.0 to 580 some hp? Did he have a 5spd in it, or a 4?
I'm sorry, but that has got to be one of the biggest crocks, or one of the most expensive conversions in porsche owner history. Are you saying he put 'turbos' onto a factory 16V 3L. Are you saying he put this into 924 or a 944? either way he would have to change the the transaxle- g/b & diff- to a 944 turbo or 968 (preferable), clutch,, torque tube, dme, engine internals- as well as forged parts he'd need to go to a high temp exhaust valve and ceramic coat the exhaust ports, intercooler and plumbing, and if hes sensible then upgraded brakes and suspension- also preferably 951 or better. Fabrication and modding would be running into the thousands. And shame on you to carry on the abomination the the past owner started. your car would be worth more stock than with $$$ of wizzy do stuff. You're better off starting with a 924 turbo or a 944, especially if you're going to mod it. At the end of the day its still a 924.
And fiddling with the air won't do squat on the 924 n/a. the 2L n/a engine is one of the hardest to get any real power out of short of the extremes of the factory went with the D production cars. One guy I know ported and polished the head added a cam,a header exhaust, and a msd 6 ignituion with rev control, a msd blaster 2 coil then put a bigger throttle body on and a dial a cam sprocket. He has roughly 135hp from a '79 US spec engine (originally 110hp)
I have owned a 924 martini for 15 years used it daily did think about selling once, but bloke wanted to spray it black!! so I didn't sell. now she sits in the garage (7 years now) waiting to be restored to her former glory. does any one know some one who could do the job reasonably priced as its still the best looking of the 924 and I would love to use it again.

Your friend's story is rubbish.
The hood opener thing is a common problem, happened to mine at 200,000 k/m. $25 and twenty minutes work gets it done.
I love the 924. Its so sleek and hugs the ground on turns. BUT KEEP IT ORIGINAL. OH AND IT IS A REAL PORSCHE.
Hey, it sounds really good that you're doing something to bring this beautiful car into the 21st century. Maybe try to stay close to the original car as possible and instead make modifications that compliment it instead of change it, as the Martini is a rare and beautiful find. Just wondering about the GTR body-kit though, where do you plan to get one from. I've looked EVERYWHERE and still haven't found anything. Have fun with your Porsche!
I have two 924 martini editions. One has been zibart protected from new and is in amazing condition for its age. The other is not and the rust worm has had a pretty good go at it, but the interior is very good. I intended using the rusted one for spares only - I just love them!
I just bought a '77 924 Martini edition.
I am trying to find out info on it. as much as possible.
I can't seem to find any information on the car. What amount where imported into the US, and what options my car came with compared to the regular 924. how to check my vin number to be sure.
I would also like to know what my car is worth. has only 54,000 miles on it. paint is a little faded but decent int is amazing for its age!
Any information or links would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot.
