1986 Daihatsu Charade Standard from Pakistan - Comments

The engine required overhauling after about 1000000 Kilometers.

The Daihatsu Charade is one of the best and fastest 1000cc cars I've ever driven! In the huge amount of time I've owned it, if raced with Suzuki Swifts (1.0), Cultus (1.0) and even Corollas (1.3) and Civics(1.5).. and won!.. That too on a standard engine.

I have already opened up the exhaust and installed an air-intake.

I'm planning to soup it up and get this baby Turbocharged.. in addition to a full body-kit and 13" 195s.. and then see what it does to the rest of them on the road..

Get ready for the ultimate charade.. you track racers in Karachi!!

"Mean Machine"?! a small car equipped with a little 1.0 engine??? You must be joking!

The 1986 Daihatsu Charade 1.0 Standard, beyond to be my first car, that I bought in 1995-1998 it's one of the worst and slowest cars I ever driven.

I can say this because I have owned another Japanese car with 1.0 engine: 1990 Suzuki Swift 1.0 during 1998-2001

Actually, I drive a powerful, economic and smooth 1993 Daewoo Racer 1.5, that I bought in 2001 and I want to stay with it for one more year, it's the fastest and best car I ever driven... so far, but one day who knows what will be my best car, I hope that I will drive a BMW 3-Series.

Daewoo racer forget it!i own a charade TL (standard) 1984 recondition'93 2door and its awesome. I could smoke anyone with it (I guess) and of course swift 89/90 (jap model) is not a big deal. I'm gonna have a race with my cousin real soon who got a perfect suzuki swift 89/90 lets see what results would be.

But defenitly charade is fast I wonder how GTti would be. I'm planning to buy a GTti soon, but it's a rare one (good cond) if anyone knows about it then he could reply me.

1-If you dream to drive a Ferrari, good for you. No matter what car it is, but if you dream to own it so still is a dream. I know, people that dreams to own a Citroen Xantia or even a Opel Vectra. I dream to own a BMW. My dream car is a BMW M3. But for me, even a BMW 330i it's a the ultimate in matter of wheeler material.

2-I Still, find hard that a Daihatsu Charade can be considered as "Mean Machine". Recently I had a bit of fun with a Daihatsu Charade GTi and a Suzuki Swift 1.3 (Jap model),driving my sloppiest Daewoo Racer 1.5.

When they caught me up at the signal, they were a little surprised.

And I am still smiling :-)

But, wait a minute! It's a Charade GTi. Isn't that, car that you are wondering to buy?

Well, during the race, I saw it all the time on my rear view and the space between. The Suzuki poor dear, it was about a Lorry Truck of distance from me!

The one you raced must been suffering from the most common disease that has plagued almost all the GTti's...

Replaced engine or may be the dead turbo.

The 2 door 86 Charade turbo. reconditioned in 93!

Its got its Orignal engine.turbo.bucket seats..

(bigger than those of Detomaso or Blache.)

although its got only a tiny 1.0

compared to out last car which was the ultimate

Honda Integra 86 5 door hatch back.

With a twin cam 16 valve PGMFi engine..

It was a devil on streets..

We (me and br0) outranned lots and lots of boyracers like

racers, excels, corollas:P, civics upto 95,and auto civics of 96 and beyond.

But charade is an awesome little wolf in sheeps clothes.

Can and HAS out ran older model citys and corollas. not to mention RAcers.:P

but now it has developed a little problemo..

Its got some vaccum hoses loose and now I givin a slight hiccup at 80-85km/h

but after that its all go!

And yes..

My other car is another Charade 89 reconditioned 93!

4 doors, single piece racing seats with integrated headrests and Auto transmission :D

and it's a relaxing drive!

Btw.do look out for 1.0 swift turbo, starlet turbo and charade 1.3 GTX... yess its got a 1.3 twin cam..developin over 100hp

(civic Vti - 127hp / corolla SE saloon 120hp./racer 85hp / integra 86 117hp! (Awesome sound) /baleno 1.3 90hp.

Dudes I'm also having a charade model 86 standard 4 gear and 1000 cc engine... i have never tried to achieve its top speed... what you people think about, how much speed will it give with good condition and fully tuned..?? plz tell me... at my ID saadkingdom@hotmail.com.. I am asking bcoz some people think that it cannot go more than 120 km/h, but I have drown this car at 120 km/h and still it was accelerating, but unfortunately the road got to its ends the road was about 2 km/h long... plz some 1 reply or add me bcoz I may not check in here again... bye saadkingdom@hotmail.com.

I have recently brought a secondhand daihatsu charade gtti with 215bhp and I think they are mentaly fast, I've raced civic's, renault 5 gtt, an even a supercharged mx5!!not 1 has come close yet I'm still modifying my beauty I'm hoping to get around 300bhp so I can race celica's, fto's an so on!!

Hey there, I'm rahil, I owned a charade 86 2 years back, the car is Kool, one day I took a test of its performance on Karachi Highway... no doubt its acceleration is awsome... it took off to 100km/h in a matter of seconds... driving this car with the engine tight was really a gud experience i'd say.

Dude you can get a very good engine, complete with the turbo and controller for 75Grand from Sher-shah.. Its been three years since I created this thread.. I've rebuilt the engine again recently and added 14Inch rims wearing 185/60 michelin's.. Last year I raced it on the track numerous times.. And won 95% of the time.

Haha why don't you guys just get a real car. My grandma drives a charade. Lol arguing over which is the fastest car out of the slowest cars in the world. Id rather ride a cow.
