"Worst car I have ever owned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Complained about poor gearchange - impossible to get a silky smooth gearchange - (Old Scania tractor unit with 400K miles on the clock is smoother that this car!)

No fault found by garage.

Intermitant problem when cold - Engine ran on 3? cylinders - new DIS pack 6K miles.

Engine ran on 3? cylinders when cold after 7K miles - new DIS pack.

As above on and off after 8k miles - no fault found - vauxhall replaced temp sensor to keep me happy.

Steering column Knock - dash was tighted (still 3 cylinders when cold!!!)

No fault found.

Rear brake grind - vauxhall not interested.

Power steering failure 10K - Vauxhall fixed problem with steering and even replaced the steering joint that was OK on the previous visit!!!

Complained to vauxhall about 3 cylider problem - garage had car in for a week - no problem found.

Two days later took car back with 3 cylinder problem - yippee - they finally fixed it - crank sensor.

Tyres started wearing on the outside edge - vauxhall garage said cause was bad roads and driver driving through pot holes (funny though - the driver of this car is a proffessional driver!!)

Tyres were OK befote the steering joint was replaced!

Boot leak! 3" inches of water in spare wheel well.

Seats creak.

Dash creaks when warming up from cold.

Stearing rack knocks when turning - fed up with vauxhall.

Paint work tarnishing below rear doors.

No one believes how much trouble I have had with this car!!! And vauxhall are not interested.

General comments?

I bought the car new so that I could say yes I have had this car for so many years and looked forward to good motoring with it. Things do go wrong with cars, but when this happens to you...

Good news is I cannot afford another car for a few years and now stuck with a car that I doi not have any faith in!

Car is now two years old with one yesrs warranty left.

Must agree have had niggling problems, like an inaccurate fuel gauge that tells you what it thinks it might have, with 24000miles has the pads changed as pedal feel poor after twice inspected by dealer and squealing of brakes which it still does, an annoying buzzing noise from behind the dash board, stereo needs a firm hand to turn on and off, washer nozzles have a tendancy to stay frozen all day in cold weather. I don't drive this car very hard, but find that it still is not very economical for a 1.8. silly thing is when its all washed and polished I just love the way it looks. guess its mind over matter.

Totally agree with all comments above. Read my review on the 2.2 diesel and you will see what I mean, this has to be the worst car I have ever owned.

Changed the pads on the rear at 80,000, now at 86,000, it sounds like the rear bearings have gone, the pads squeal constantly and the dealer has told me to go else where and buy cheap pads to cure the problem.

After 2 years of problems with the ems, a recall seems to have cured the problem.
