"Not worth the price"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Totally under powered. The car is like going to move back wards down hill even when accelerator is fully pressed when going up hill to Genting Highland.

The whole car is vibrating so greatly like the interior is going to split into half even when driving at around 120 kilometers per hour making the car not comfortable at all.

Lubricating oil spilled out of the engine even after the car has been serviced.

The design of the car is too simple and plain and doesn't worth the price at all.

General comments?

Actually I'm looking forward to a better car from Proton, but it seems that Proton still lack of creativity. What is wrong with them?

The car they make doesn't even worth the price. Compare to other countries, the price of one Proton Wira can buy myself a powerful yet beautiful sports car. Example in Canada, the price of one Proton Wira is worth the price of one Chevrolet Camaro.

For conclusion, this Proton Wira that I currently own will be the first and the last of Proton. I felt disapointed at how Proton is doing their job. They are nothing, but some 'money-grabber'.I know that many people in Malaysia think that way too.

My family menber bought a proton wira 2 weeks ago. On the road the steering vibrate when travelling at 100kmp and under power. when taking a corner the car is making loud noises on the wheel. I hope my family menber will not buy proton again.

Don't ever buy a proton. That's it. my cousin bought a wira last year, and recently saw him on the road, he already change to hyundai! that's explain how bad is the wira. He told me that that wira has been trade-in because the automatic gearbox has seriously problem. So he decide to change into a new car and don't ever look into proton again. As I know, the proton automatic gearbox is always a problem. So, remember, don't buy proton!!!

All of you who commented on how bad the car is are just people who don't really know how to take care of a car! Oh common, if you are local, it makes you all the worst, don't even know how to support your nation's automobile industry? My Wira has been running for 6 years with a mileage of over 145,000km, I never faced problems with the gearbox (it's an automatic for your INFORMATION), I travel thru-and-fro to work everyday, an average of 150km per day, and it has not given me problems till now... How come I nvr face problems like that? Wira is a good car, it just needs good care, like any other car! Send the car for services every 5,000 to 10,000km and I GUARANTEE you it will run as good as other cars! Don't wreck the car, it's a family car, not a performance one!

Hi dude..we've tried our very best to maintain and service our cars on time, make it stock standard as possible, but what if all these problems happen to you even on the first week when you're the proud owner and a good supporter of our national cars.. Will you tell us the same kind of stories?

What if your new car driven by your wife having faulty problems that might have taken her life in the process due to poor quality? Are you going to support and say it out loud that we're talking rubbish over here?

We're not against Proton, but in reality all that the people mentioned here does happen in reality and it happens to me as well.. you are lucky or may not after writing this column supporting it with the spirit of Proton Boleh!!... wish you all the best on your next Proton purchase car and hope that you will let us know how good it is...

Actually the car is not-so-bad for me...

Back then in 1996 my dad bought his proton Wira (manual) with 1.5 litre engine. I was 11years old. Till now (june 2007) the car still running, but not that good anymore. btw my proton wira is the 1st edition when proton came out with this new model. My dad own a mitsubishi gallant at first, and then nissan sunny, and then toyota corolla. all are used car.

The proton Wira is his first hand car. So he take a very good care of the car.

All in all,

336116 km done until June 2007.

Air condition totally out after 7 years. (2003-sent to workshop and change the compressor)

Paint is excellent for 10 years. (keep in garage)

some minor problem such as absorber, radiator, and small parts. need to be check regularly. etc etc.

Rattling here and there obviously.

Services every 5k to ensure everything OK.

My dad took good care of his car very2 much which I still can drive his car after 11 years and for that I'll buy the BMW 5 series e39 and let him drive while I continue to drive his proton Wira to work.well, its OK.Dad, I'll drive the bimmer on the weekend!
